Abu Ghraib abuse against international law--ICRC

(Adds background)

By Stephanie Nebehay

GENEVA, Feb 16 (Reuters) - The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said on Thursday the latest images of abuse of Iraqi prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison showed clear violations of international humanitarian law.

However, the Swiss-based body, whose confidential reports have previously accused the U.S. military of using tactics "tantamount to torture" on inmates at the Baghdad jail, declined to say whether it would raise the issue again with Washington. snip

ICRC officials began visits to detention centres run by U.S. and other multinational forces in April 2003, a month after the invasion which ousted Saddam Hussein.

They have been unable to go to Abu Ghraib since January 2005 due to lack of security, Krimitsas said. "It is unfortunate."

2. Last week I was debating some friends over the wiretapping issue
They honestly thought that Bush spying on American Citizens was a good thing because it made them feel safer and they thought it was neccessary for the war on terrah. They obviously acknowledged the fact that we are despised around the globe. They just can't seem to wrap their brains around the fact that we could still get our credibility back if we just stopped this PNAC Imperialism crap and all these other human rights violations.

Hey, I'm still working on them. I still have hope.
