November fundraising...not bad at all, Howie.
Not bad at all for catering to smaller donors so far, putting out a lot of money into the states for organizing. The article is skewed but the facts speak for themselves. DNC expects to hit at least 51 million for the year, 20% better than any other non-election year. Also remember Dean honored Terry's commitment to Virginia for the 5 million promised in January before he became chair.

RNC $6.1 million $32 million

DNC $5.4 million $7.3 million

NRSC $2.4 million $9.2 million

DSCC $3.6 million $22.4 million

NRCC $3.8 million $19.5 million

DCCC $2.5 million $11.2 million

4. More on this from Kos....states do get to keep some money.
I thought so.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/1/3/192336/3680

"Hotline on Call reports:
The Democratic National Committee raised more than $51M in 2005, a record for an off-year and twenty percent higher than the comparable period in 2003

20 percent higher than the year before a presidential election? I bet it's much higher than in 2001, which is truly the "comparable period". And, let's not forget that Dean couldn't solicit the million-dollar soft-dollar donations that made up the bulk of the pre-2004 DNC.

Now, of course, the RNC blew those numbers away -- $100 million -- but that was to be expected. Republicans always outraise Democrats. The question is whether Democrats can work toward closing that gap. And Dean has shown that he can bring in the bucks at an unprecedented rate despite facing more obstacles to raising that money than ever before.

Update: I forgot to mention -- when Dean goes on fundraising trips to the states he lets the locals keep the money. He's raising money for the state parties, which isn't reflected in these numbers. The state parties love him for it. In the past, people like McAuliffe would come in and vaccum up money from the locals and send it to DC. This makes these numbers all that much more remarkable."

5. I just noticed that in November, DNC outraised DSCC and DCCC.
So that is a bright spot, because they have been getting the bigger donor money. Not bad at all.

RNC $6.1 million $32 million

DNC $5.4 million $7.3 million

NRSC $2.4 million $9.2 million

DSCC $3.6 million $22.4 million

NRCC $3.8 million $19.5 million

DCCC $2.5 million $11.2 million

And if he had not had to give one state 5 million, he would have had more in the bank than the DCCC.

I realize he did not outraise them the other months, but a wee bit of success is nice.
