It is unbelievable to me that Russ still doesn't have his signatures to stop the illegal wiretaps. He made his call last week and we're still running short of signatures. So I was hoping he could count on DU to help bring him over the top and maybe provide another 10,000 just for good measure.

it just looks like it's a signup to join the "Progressive Patriots Fund".

Kennedy's thing is actually a resolution that is being submitted to the Senate stating that the "Authorization for war" act did not include the right to use warrantless wiretaps, including those on American citizens.

Can someone explain the point of Feingold's petition drive? I don't see enough info on the site to be able to tell what specific actions they are taking. I'm already on way too many things that email me incessently and ask for money, so I only want to sign petitions that are really doing something, instead of just signing up for another mailing list.

I don't believe petitions do much to effect change in this Government but they at least show our support for people who are speaking on our behalf. However, by constantly petitioning our government for a redress of greivances, we'll have shown a pattern of attempting to right the wrongs through our elected officials. No one can say we didn't try a peaceful solution first.
