New wingnut talking point: Cheney's a "teetotaler"
Hannity said it yesterday afternoon, Carl Cameron said it last night, and Mary Matalin said it yesterday and again this morning. What, then, are we to make of the two times the sonuvabitch has been popped for DWI? The delay in interviewing him, coupled with a full court press hammering the message that Crashcart doesn't drink, leads me to believe that the fat bastard was shit-faced, commode-hugging drunk when he nailed his buddy.
We can get into the fact that this fine, upright, Christian, gentleman was holed up in a cozy hide-away with a woman other than his wife at a later date.

2. I thought Cheney already admitted to drinking a beer...
at lunch that day. Is beer now considered tea?

5. He did say that. His flunkies aren't keeping up with Darth's own words.
Or this is yet another version of, "Don't listen to what was just said, pay attention to what I'm saying NOW." :eyes:

17. Does this mean that a beer is to "no alcohol" like
a blowjob is to "not sex"?

(That ought to piss off the anti-Clinton crowd) . . .

19. I guess we will have to define the meaning of "no alcohol"...
does "no alcohol" mean he was not drinking it at the moment he shot the man in the face. I think that will be their definition. Also, we must never forget it "wasn't about the sex, it was about the lie". How many times did we hear that from the Republicans?

12. Big Eddy cracked me up yesterday
He gives away 64 Oz mugs and said if Gfy cheney had one of those Big Eddy mugs, he would have still been buzzed at 5:00.

I was on a jury lately where the girl said she had a beer and in the trial it switched to 2 and 1/2 beers, but she blew a .17 which would have required her to have drank 8 beers in the time specified. Shooters or jello shots were not counted.

23. And Armstrong said he'd had a cocktail after the ambulance took Harry away
Edited on Thu Feb-16-06 11:27 AM by txindy
Armstrong, a longtime friend of the Cheney family, told CNN before the vice president's interview that she never saw Cheney or Whittington "drink at all on the day of the shooting until after the accident occurred, when the vice president fixed himself a cocktail back at the house."

Cheney was not asked Wednesday about the fact that he was not interviewed by police until the morning after the shooting.

10. wingnut fabrication
These statements are simply more evidence that the wingnuts will make up anything that sounds good to them at the time.

There was also a picture of Cheney with what certainly looked to be a wineglass (with white wine) in front of him at a formal dinner posted here on DU in the past few days.

Edited on Thu Feb-16-06 09:56 AM by LibDemAlways
Does Cheney even pretend to be a Christian? I know chimp does (not very convincingly), but I've never heard anyone describe Cheney that way. I'm sure it's written down somewhere that he belongs to a particular Protestant denomination, but it's a giant stretch for even the most jaded kool-aid drinker to claim that the evil SOB has any religious or moral values.

Hannity and Matalin get paid big bucks to lie. Doesn't Matalin work for Cheney? She ought to pay attention to what he says before she goes into spin mode. Ends up looking ridiculous when he flat-out contradicts her.

Cheney said he had had a beer at lunch that day but nobody was drinking when they went back out to hunt a couple hours later. Law enforcement officials have ruled out alcohol as a factor.

18. This is more of the spin. So far they've told us Whittington wasn't
badly injured, that Whittington was only "peppered", that the accident was Whittington's fault, that Armstrong was an eyewitness, that there was no alcohol involved and now that Cheney is a "teetotaler". None of this is true. Cheney himself refuted some of the BS yesterday in his cozy interview with Brit Hume and yet, they're still spewing bullshit. Matalin, Rove and Gawd knows who else have been working over-time since Saturday night concocting CYA talking points for their media cronies to dish out.

This is how this White House operates. They baffle us with bullshit at every turn. The truth always seems to take a backseat with this bunch.

25. I Think They Meant "T'd off and totally wasted"!!!!!
Anyone that thinks beer isn't really alcohol is just blowing smoke up our butts.

And the Armstrong woman's comments about him "fixing a cocktail" afterwards, I don't think she meant shrimp cocktail.

He was ticked off at Whittington, and totally wasted, shot at the millionaire lawyer, then his secret service detail and whoever else stopped him from re-loading. The medics tended to Whittington. They took Cheney back to the ranch house, tried to sober him up but realized he was too wasted so they asked the Sheriff to meet with him the next day.

Who knows? Maybe they weren't even hunting, maybe they were (Cheney and Willeford Swiss Miss) were at it in a black suburban and Whittington walked up on them and Cheney, being paranoid of terrorists thought Whittington to be one and shot him?

Who the hell knows

He isn't a teetotaler though, obviously. And he was hunting with an attractive woman who was not his wife.

It has been reported that he had one while Whittington was on the way to the hospital!!
