Swallowing the camel while straining at the gnat... |

Does it strike anyone odd, and especially ironic, that internet CEOs got a grilling from a congressional committee yesterday about their participation in censoring the internet by succumbing to repressive Chinese laws? ...while the questioners look past the most egregious violations of civil rights perpetrated by the administration running their own country. These CEOs were accused of being anything but freedom-loving Americans because of their willing participation in the subversion of human rights.
Ugh!! This is all too Orwellian for me to wrap my brain around! :puke:

I guess i don't see your point - how does the united states repress internet freedom (except by insisting that creators get paid royalties for works they create)? Bryant Check i tout --> http://politicalcomment.blogspot.com

2. Perhaps I appear to be comparing apples to oranges... |

I'm not making a direct relationship nor saying that the U.S. represses internet freedom. I am looking at the eagerness of the congress critters to critcize internet CEOs for participating in activities that suppress human rights, when, at the same time, they turn a blind eye to human rights violations being perpetrated directly by this adminstration, e.g. Abu Ghraib, Gitmo, acquiescence to torture, rendering, Katrina, etc.
