Once again the media is framing the story all wrong. |
|
Dick Cheney does not have to notify the press of anything. The press is not a legal authority and telling them is not required.
Refusing to talk to the police after you shoot someone is a far bigger infraction then not telling the media. Using your Secret Service bodyguards to avoid a routine questioning and possible breathalyser test is how this story should be framed. Therein lies the cover up and abuse of power. Once again, crime committed and investigation blocked. Meanwhile the media can only whine about they weren't informed.

3. MSN's timeline said he was shot at 6:30 |
|
and at 7:20 an ambulance took him to the hospital. Why would it take 50 minutes to get an ambulance? MSN also said the medical personnel that were with Cheney attened to Whitt until the ambulance arrived. WTF?

Did they make this guy wait and bleed until Cheney could suck down some breathmints?

8. Hartford Courant timeline also said 6:30 |
|
Which was about 15 minutes past sunset, and therefore quite illegal...even if Cheney DID have his legally-required hunting stamp. Which he didn't. But what's a few laws between megalomaniacs?

9. And they took him to a small hospital.... |
|
Further away than Corpus Christi, where there was a much better hospital. They were going to cover it up, and the man turned out to be too badly hurt, IMO.

10. It would have never made any news if Mr Wittington hadn't need |
|
more care than the little hospital could provide. Bigger city meant more questions, more exposure, 18 hours later, they had to report it because it was now in Corpus Christi.
One more attempt by the bu$h regime to do everything in secret.

5. There's a time line posted around here somewhere. |
|
It probably wasn't too long since Cheney has an ambulance and medical team following him everywhere.

What are you talking about? They are framing it the way they frame everything - in the GOP's favor.

12. How about the words used? |
|
Edited on Thu Feb-16-06 10:17 AM by Puzzler
For example... most of the US media insisted on using the word "peppered" (or "peppering") instead of "shot".
Think about it. How many news writers would think of using the word "pepper" instead of "shoot" when describing a shooting incident? It's amazing (and I'm being sarcastic here) how many US media outlets used the far less severe-sounding word.
Incidentally, I noticed that the BBC used the word "shot". I guess they don't have the same sources ;)

13. It's par for the course. |

Dick Cheney shoots someone, then the Republican Guard steps in to block all access to investigators and the media only fains outrage about how they weren't informed. That's a story that's sure to die on the vine.
I fucking give up! :banghead:
