1. I'm going to go as long as I can without seeing them.
I've already been told they make the last ones look like a walk in the park.

2. Seymour Hersh says the US government has videotapes
Seymour Hersh says the US government has videotapes of boys being sodomized at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq.

"The worst is the soundtrack of the boys shrieking," the reporter told an ACLU convention last week. Hersh says there was "a massive amount of criminal wrongdoing that was covered up at the highest command out there, and higher."

He called the prison scene "a series of massive crimes, criminal activity by the president and the vice president, by this administration anyway…war crimes."

The outrages have cost us the support of moderate Arabs, says Hersh. "They see us as a sexually perverse society."

Hersh describes a Pentagon in crisis. The defense department budget is “in incredible chaos,” he says, with large sums of cash missing, including something like $1 billion that was supposed to be in Iraq.

"The disaffecion inside the Pentagon is extremeley accute," Hersh says. He tells the story of an officer telling Rumsfeld how bad things are, and Rummy turning to a ranking general yes-man who reassured him that things are just fine. Says Hersh, "The Secretary of Defense is simply incapable of hearing what he doesn’t want to hear."

This has not yet hit the mainstream press, but I'm guessing that there will be a Hersh story about this coming soon, and then it should.

How do we even begin to address the wrongs that have been perpetrated in our name?

Update: Salon's War Room has picked up the story, and has a transcript of the section of Hersh's remarks dealing with this.

Debating about it, ummm ... Some of the worst things that happened you don't know about, okay? Videos, um, there are women there. Some of you may have read that they were passing letters out, communications out to their men. This is at Abu Ghraib ... The women were passing messages out saying 'Please come and kill me, because of what's happened' and basically what happened is that those women who were arrested with young boys, children in cases that have been recorded. The boys were sodomized with the cameras rolling. And the worst above all of that is the soundtrack of the boys shrieking that your government has. They are in total terror. It's going to come out.

It's impossible to say to yourself how did we get there? Who are we? Who are these people that sent us there? When I did My Lai I was very troubled like anybody in his right mind would be about what happened. I ended up in something I wrote saying in the end I said that the people who did the killing were as much victims as the people they killed because of the scars they had, I can tell you some of the personal stories by some of the people who were in these units witnessed this. I can also tell you written complaints were made to the highest officers and so we're dealing with a enormous massive amount of criminal wrongdoing that was covered up at the highest command out there and higher, and we have to get to it and we will. We will. You know there's enough out there, they can't (Applause). .... So it's going to be an interesting election year.

3. The video with the screams of the male child being raped is the worst -
in my opinion.

But that will never get on US TV.

Indeed there is so much that is extremely evil - and none will get into US Media.

And Sanchez and Rumsfeld and Cheney who all signed off on this torture will never be called by our media to explain themselves.

God - I love our US Media.

sigh .....

Meanwhile we give 10 and 20 year jail time to those at the bottom that carried out the orders.

I love my not controlled by the RW GOP US Media - they just act that way.

4. Just when I think I can't get enraged and disgusted anymore...
The first picture in that series looks like a teenage boy. Not that this treatment is okay for anyone, but holy shit! And the guard looks like it's just business as usual and it's obvious to me that the detainee is terrified!

I'm beginning to become more convinced by the day that "republican" needs to become synonymous with the substance that you scrape off of the bottom of your shoe after you step in it in the yard.
