Upper Midwest dominates progressive radio
With Al Franken moving back to Minneapolis to do his show the two largest progressive radio shows come out of the upper midwest. Ed Schultz broadcasts only a few short hours up the road in Fargo, North Dakota.

1. You think either of them are "dominating"?
Honestly, you have named the two weakest links in the chain.

2. By ratings wise and most well known then they are dominating
I think Randi pulls a close third.

6. Location (in the schedule) is everything.
Change places between Malloy and Franken, and Malloy would top the ratings.

3. They Call It "Midwest Sensibilities"
Actually I group Al in with his New York buddies...and that also includes Letterman and Jon Stewart...they've been inside the big Apple for many years and really draw their celebrity and power from New York rather than their midwestern roots. Schultz has come up the same roots many of the right wing radio talkers came from. Rushbo came out of Cape Girardeu and Kansas City and it's interesting to see how similar the two are...in a purely stylish manner...yet are mirror opposites of one another.

There are some other "homegrown" Progressive voices out there. Randi Rhodes is just one of many, including Steph Miller, Lynn Cullen, Mike Malloy, Bernie Ward and many others who are just starting to be heard by a larger and very receptive audience. While Ed might not be everyone's cup of tea, he's more on the right side than the wrong side of things.

Cheers...

4. Ed Schultz connects well with midwest blue-collar voters
And we need to win over more of them to take back Congress and the White House. Al Franken moved back to MN to pursue a possible Senate or Congressional run. But he's been away from his hometown for a long time, so it remains to be seen whether he'll connect well with MN voters.

5. I'm a blue-collar midwest voter, and I connect with MIKE MALLOY
not Ed Shultz
