Cheney may be witness in CIA case

http://www.dailytelegraph.news.com.au/story/0,20281,18165934-5001028,00.html

February 16, 2006

US Vice President Dick Cheney may be called as a witness in the case of his former aide Lewis "Scooter" Libby, who faces perjury and other charges in the leak of a CIA operative's identity.

MrCheney refused to comment on reports that he directed Libby to use classified material to discredit a critic of the Bush administration's Iraq war effort, saying: "It's nothing I can talk about."

"I may well be called as a witness at some point in the case and it's, therefore, inappropriate for me to comment on any facet of the case."

There's the new mantra up until, and through the midterm election. Serious questions which the public deserves to know the answers to will now be dismissed as 'interference with the investigation'. The sooner the special prosecutor indicts these crooks the better. Nothing will be gleaned from this cabal in the public arena. We need a court of law, or a congressional proceeding like impeachment to loosen their tongues.

6. As always, he's lying.
The prospect of being called as a defendant does not make it inappropriate for him to comment. Nixon spoke about Watergate.
