1. They'll need it to bow before God and pray for salvation |
|
after that joke of a debate about the Iran resolution.
Because they're all going straight to hell.
(Suddenly I am religious. When did that happen?!)

2. Give 'em two weeks per year, like the majority if their citizens. |
|
And, if they're really on good behavior, a week and a half of sick time.

difference. The rare monday meetings are always "pro forma," meaning "make it look like a session, even though it is not." Travel days are tuesday and friday, with an occasional pro forma meeting on tuesday evening, to try to show that everybody's in town. Essentially, being a senator or representative is a part-time job, with the major efforts going to schmoozing with big shots(spelling optional) to enhance their personal fortunes and campaigning, to be allowed to schmooze some more.
Shortly after high school, I met the other debating team president (I had taken a highly technical job and part-time higher education, he was attending a full-time liberal arts college.) He informed me that he was studying political science and intended to become a politician, because, as he put it, he knew where the real money was.
At that time, I was too much of a political innocent to appreciate his intentions.
