Aide: Chicago Not Interested In 2008 RNC
That's Chicago's answer to an invitation to submit a bid to host the 2008 Republican National Convention.

The Republican National Committee said yesterday that Chicago and 30 other cities were selected to submit bids explaining why they'd be a good choice to host the 2008 convention.

But a spokeswoman for Mayor Richard Daley says City Hall isn't interested.

Jackie Heard says city officials are more focused on whether to pursue a campaign to host the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Chicago hosted the Democratic National Convention in 1996.

1. Gotta love the Windy City...
Why don't they go to some Red State city..... But even in the Red States, the big CITIES don't like them.

2. Personally, I don't want the Olympics here in 2016.
If Chicago is awarded the Olympics, then billions of dollars will be spent. Billions of dollars that could be put to better use than the Olympics.

But then, I'm not running this city, so what does my opinion matter?

3. Yorkville's nice, and it's near Chicago

Well, near-ish - 50 miles or so - and kinda small but, thanks to it being the home of Hastert, (not to mention pretty rural = far away from ethnic types) it's a sweet little town that's being gentrified for wealthy racists. The RNC would feel right at home.

edit for typo
