or recover.

The spin, you see, becomes dramatically different depending on whether Mr. Whittington lived or died.

They had to wait for him to regain his wits in order to make sure he'd excuse away the incident. Once he did they could start with the 30 yards away peppering bullcrap.

1. Good take on it. And that may be even worse from a "humanity"
standpoint, not that Cheney is known to have any of that quality.

3. As for your signature image...
Although I really love Mr. Gore, I don't think he'll get the nomination, and I'm hoping that he doesn't.

I see the best Democratic chance as John Edwards.

Edwards has already been passed under Rove's prurient microscope, and came out virtually unscathed. He's got that debate and campaign experience going for him now, too. The public seems to like him.

Edwards and Clark would be a dynamite ticket. A winner.

6. And there were a lot of people who didn't think Howard should be DNC chair
but they were wrong.

2. Hadn't thought of that, but you're right
Dead men tell no tales....if he died, would it have been "a tragic accident that happened near the vice president?" Would he have "tripped and fallen on his gun?"

4. Exactly.
The man was shot unconscious. He's old. Their spin was contingent upon the nature of his recovery.

7. It MAKES a lot of sense...and I'm going to spread the meme
After all, as Peggy Noonan once said while pretending on Hardball that Bill Clinton was a Chinese spy, "It would be irresponsible not to speculate."

5. cheney shot the man just to watch him die
so says Al Franken who prattled that lovely line earlier in the week. And it very well be possible since he is a heartless, hateful human being.
