MARSHALL LAW - WHAT IF * DECLA RES |
|
What if Bush, who feels he has all possible power, decides to declare Marshall Law for entire U.S. That would mean we ALL would come under military rule, and, such things as desent, demonstrations, etc. would be criminal. If this happened, then * could declare himself as supreme ruler (which he is already trying to do). No one could oppose anything he does, including shutting down the courts, summarlily executing any one who opposes him (to wit, another Sadam). This would then be the end of the US. I think we need to start demonstrating againt this regime NOW while we still can (without being shot)(maybe?). I'm not one who knows how to start a grassroots action for such, but would welcome all suggestions on how to start this. We need the entire administration out ASAP! There seems to be no doubt that this is the most corrupt administration in our countries history. (any one want to research how Hitler ended up with so much power - by using TERROR as his main method, to getting the Germans on his side?, does this sound familiar lately?) I'm old enough that I'll problable die of old age before this country can be brought back to any form of true democracy - Iraq may actually achieve this before we do.

|
I know a lot of folks in my neck of the woods who have enough rations to last at least a year. Good idea to start stocking up even now-even if we don't get a revolution, I feel that the economy will tank very soon, and food prices will go sky high.

Is everybody's spell-check broken today?
Oh yeah, I guess it wouldn't detect either of those as misspellings, but come on!

Do you really think Americans wouldn't fight back? Also, I know the Germany/US comparison is popular around here, and I'll grant you that in some ways it fits, but in other crucial aspects, it doesn't. For example, the popluation of Germany was mostly homogeneous. Minorities here comprise over 30% of the population. Honestly, sometimes I think people just enjoy working themselves up.

13. Dick has learned how to shoot |
|
Now that Dickey boC has learned to shoot, perhaps they will take all the military OUT that doesn't go along with martial law. Yes, keep thinking TERROR and you will be surpised how many people will go along. A lot of them would love to start with eliminating the minorities - blaming all our problems on them. I'm sure there are enough real Red Necks around that would love to join in with that little operation.

11. If those operating a martial law are anything like FEMA? |
|
One would have to see whether this could be followed through. I should imagine it would be a disaster if it anything to do with Bush! Would there be enough people in Bush's martial law operation to do this? How would an operation deal with the Mexican/Canadian borders? Now that Bush has a right wing friend in Canada? With the bird flu imminent?

Think reports of mercs patrolling the streets of New Orleans with shoot to kill authority.
I think FEMA did great on the shoot 'em up law enforcement end of the Katrina response. It was the rescuing and providing aid to people they sucked at.

something to keep aware of -
It's not "us and them".
It would be without a doubt the single stupidest most destructive thing he could "try" to do to America, and would be the end of this administration and anyone even remotely associated with it.

23. It's Martial Law, by the way |
|
And unfortunately with the "brave" Democrats in the Congress(and we all know who I mean)and the very compliant Republicans who do not see this man for the truly evil being he is, or just don't care, we might as well get ready to be screwed.
The worst part is those "Americans" who look to Bush and the Republican party as the saviors of the nation, add to that mix the Christian fanatics, and we could possibly have our own version of Iran!
Can it happen? possibly. Will it happen? possibly.
What can we do? Well without truly courageous members in the Congress, not much. They've already rolled over for Alito, and today their support of the Enabling Act, with three exceptions. They keep saying that they're keeping their powder dry, at this rate they won't have anything left to shoot at.
We can keep writing, calling, and sending e-mails, for all the good that it'll do. We can march against the policies coming from this administration, only to have the "liberal" media cut the numbers when and if they even report it. We can look to the sky and hope that Ghandi was right.
Or, we can prepare ourselves to fight for it, just like our founders fought. You see, they too tried to redress their grievences in a peaceful way, and only as a last resort did they decide to fight.
So it'll either be fight or run, everyone will have to make their own choice when and if the time comes.

24. I Thought About This But Where I Think It Breaks Down Is..... |
|
if we all agree we have a corporate run government and we know we have a lot of real greedy rich people. Anything like Marshall Law would effect them the most. People wouldn't be spending money. Corps and the rich won't be making money.
Do we have enough military to impose Marshall Law(ML)? Seems to me that one would need armed military on every street corner. Would the local police be drawn into it? Local police have families and are voters as well that have a party affiliation. Would all join in? Look at New Orleans after Katrina. Many of the local police abandoned their posts and took care of their own families. I talked to a local Fire Chief after Katrina and he said that they assume that 1/3 to 1/2 of the force will abandon their posts.
I just don't think that if * imposed ML that he would be able to do it effectively. He can't do anything right - why should this be different.
On another issue - has anybody run the odds of an American in the U.S. being killed by a terrorist? I'm sorry that those 3000 people got killed on 9/11 - but if you take the population of this country into consideration - that was only a very, very small percentage of Americans killed. I know that is not the point. Any American being killed by a terrorist is serious. BUT --- with all the scare tactics that *Co is laying on the 'merikun people. The odds are really low for any individual that they will actually be killed by a terrorist on U.S. soil. I would think that there is more of a chance to be hit by lightening; hit by a car or hit by an errant birdshot shell by Cheney.

29. Martial law ? It's not needed. |
|
Why stir up the hornets when you can obtain the same result by moving quietly ? Just change the laws we have one way or another so that you have de facto martial law without having troops all over the place. As long as the little worker bees keep making you richer, why do anything to give them the impression that they don't live in the land of "freedom" ?
Some troublemakers will need to be dealt with of course, but the new laws will take care of that. "Back to your business, there's nothing to see here..."
