CHICAGO Says Thanks But No Thanks to RNC
Aide: Chicago Not Interested In 2008 RNC

(AP) CHICAGO Thanks but no thanks.

That's Chicago's answer to an invitation to submit a bid to host the 2008 Republican National Convention.

The Republican National Committee said yesterday that Chicago and 30 other cities were selected to submit bids explaining why they'd be a good choice to host the 2008 convention.

But a spokeswoman for Mayor Richard Daley says City Hall isn't interested.

Jackie Heard says city officials are more focused on whether to pursue a campaign to host the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Chicago hosted the Democratic National Convention in 1996.

9. They'll have to stick to the south or the midwest
because I don't think too many cities will want a bunch of loud, arrogant, drunken bad tippers who want everything comped.

Titty bars didn't do well during the Democratic convention, but I understand everything else in town did, and the Democrats at least know who and how to tip.

15. I hope you are talking about the one
in the Carolinas. Not the one I hail from in MI. Much to small of a burg but infested with freepers.

17. this strikes me as funny
Since Sean Hannity was bragging last week how he was in San Fran because of some liberal decesions. San Fran officials decided not to welcome a miltary boat or something of that nature.

Just would love to see them reject the convention and all the hoopla to follow!

8. good for chicago!
We were surrounded by the Repukes for days in NYC during the convention. Especially numerous were Repukes in cowboy hats with their bouffant-hairdo wives.
I was so relieved when they all left.

13. Wouldn't it be fun if NO city wanted it?
Or, better yet--why don't they go have it in New Orleans? Their LAST major convention was held in a city that was destroyed under their reign.

C ya,

The Plaid Adder
