5. Connect these dots!
If they can connect all the dots in this scandal, I think it will go all the way to the whitehouse.
Will republicans be willing to take the chance and try to connect the dots, or will they just let a couple of fish (Abramoff, Scanlon, Ney etc)take a fall and go back to business as usual? They NEED this to go away as quick as possible. With this years elections on the line, they are in very serious damage control mode, and I can't see enough honor and dignity in the republican led congress to do anything different than they have the last five years.

7. no way
Abramoff has always been a winger. He started out in the religious right, worked his way through Iran Contra into Delays pocket.

8. How so exactly?
Care to elaborate at all considering that no Democrats have received money directly from abramoff and dozens of republicans have? And welcome to DU.

13. difference between repug and dem. we dems want all corrupt out
i dont think any dems are in this. they have donations from clients of the abramoff. they did not take payoffs it appears. but IF a dem was corrupt every person on this board would call for the person to be taken away

a repug, has a leader that has been corrupt, lied, stole.... and still they make excuses for him. not to mention so much of their congress. excuses after excuses for their law breaking asses

that is the difference between the two parties. and the morality of the two different groups. the party that yells loudest about morality is the party that is deficient in morality

12. Pelosi: "It is the most corrupt Congress in history." (Sorta nails it.)
Edited on Wed Jan-04-06 12:34 AM by TahitiNut
I see no need to go further. Just say it again and again. It's true.

"Our Founding Fathers gave us a great democracy, established upon truth and trust, and established a government for the many, not the few. This Republican Congress has violated both of these sacred charges. The American people expect us to honor our founders and uphold a high ethical standard in doing the people’s work.

"This week closes the door on the first session of the 109th Congress – a Congress that has fostered a culture of corruption and has failed to meet the needs of the American people. It is the most corrupt Congress in history.

"Republicans have pursued an agenda on behalf of special interests and the powerful at the expense of working families in America, forgetting the hard working Americans who go to work every day, and play by the rules and expect that their representatives in Congress will do the same. Instead, this Republican Congress has met every need of the special interests, all the greed of the special interests, at the expense of the needs of the American people. This corruption and unethical behavior exacts a tough price on the American people.
