Whittington is concerned that Texas is getting a BAD IMAGE
Yes, from intensive care old Harry backed up Cheney's story, assured us all that no booze was involved and is troubled about hunting's reputation in Texas. Oh, and he would not agree to be recorded because of his raspy voice.

=====

...The investigator, accompanied by another officer, briefly interviewed Whittington at his hospital room on Monday.

"I asked Mr. Whittington if we could record our conversation and Mr. Whittington requested not to be recorded due to his voice being raspy," San Miguel wrote.

The investigator asked for an affidavit, and Whittington said he would provide one when he returned home to his office in Austin. Doctors have said Whittington will probably remain hospitalized until next week.

Before a nurse asked the officers to "hurry up so Mr. Whittington could rest," Whittington "explained foremost there was no alcohol during the hunt and everyone was wearing the proper hunting attire of blaze orange," San Miguel reported.

Whittington said the shooting "was just an accident," and he was concerned all the media attention would give hunting in Texas a bad image, the report said.

5. I'm still waiting for proof that Harry actually DID wake up.
No pictures. No affadavit. Not even a voice recording of this 'interview'. This is nothin'. They've got absolutely nothing.

Why must everything they do look so suspicious?! No affadavit? What, he couldn't sign his name to something someone else typed up? A verbal interview was easier than a mere signature?!

Something stinks and it's not the bedpans.

4. No, no. 78 year olds are extremely vain about their voices.
If a tape leaked out it might ruin his singing career.

13. He can't talk - pellets lodged in his larnyx.
I'd think by now, if he's doing as well as they say, Rove would be eager to get a photo out there of him. :eyes:

6. Check Whittington's bank accounts for a Halliburton direct deposit...
...if the stories from the last 24 hours are true (Cheney's "response" and the Fox interview were all orchestrated by Rove), you'd better believe that one of the things on the "to do" list was pay off Whittington.

Luby's restaurant massacre, '91 (?) ....No offense to individual Texans, but there are already a few violent, historically significant events associated with Texas- all involving Texas 'gunmen'.

21. lol - Typical crony. Not worried Cheney played his usual pompous
ass self - above the law and can't be bothered with the little details like us common folk - Oh, no - he's worried hunting in Texas will get a bad rap.

lol

It doesn't even register with Whittington that Cheney should have remained at the scene of the shooting to be interviewed by the police - cause Whittington, like Cheney, feels entitled to be treated differently than John Q Public. Entitled to get preferential treatment.
Entitled to hunt without the proper license - that's for the proles. How dare we demand the law apply to these fine upstanding citizens as it does for us? Who do we think we are?

Hell, Whittington doesn't even care that Cheney blamed him for getting shot.

Whittington doesn't see anything wrong with Cheney's behavior - because Whittington applies the same rules Cheney lives by to himself. Same as everyone else in the good ol' boy network.

24. You really believe that Whittington's awake and interviewing?
With birdshot in his larynx? No picture. No voice recording. No signature on a previously-provided accounting of the incident? Nothing but Darth's flunky's word? I'm not buying it. Not yet. Harry W. may turn out to believe all you say he does (and it wouldn't shock me), but I'll wait for proof, first. Right now, though, I think Darth is still playing "Look over there!"

32. It really depends
on the amount of damage to the larynx - but it is very possible the man is rasping out words. Though with a larynx injury, the less you talk, the better.

I've always maintained that Whittington was injured worse than we were being told - but even that doesn't mean he can't speak.

So is it possible it's all a big lie? Most certainly - it is Cheney we're talking about after all.
But it's also possible the man is rasping out words. I can even believe Cheney/Matalin badgered him into rasping out those words, larynx injury and all - in the hopes of reducing all the bad press and speculation.

As for pictures of Whittington - pellets to the face and neck look horrible. Would you want a picture of the man you shot shown to the public if you were Cheney? I'm certain there's a blackout on any and all pictures.
