Poll question: Is a thunderstorm in Michigan, in February, normal?
I've lived in MI all my life, and right now, we are experiencing the first thunderstorm of the year.

MO had a TORNADO WATCH earlier, if it's not still going on.

Normal weather... or NOT? (I lean 'not'.)

4. It's just unusual
and certainly not unheard of.

I remember several intances of winter thunder in Boston from the late 60s on.

7. NOT
Everyone's quite surprised here(well, the storms won't reach Detroit for a little while) but I have friends in Kalamazoo that are getting pounded.
Never in my life have I seen such weather!
This hasn't been a normal Michigan winter. January was incredibly mild(as opposed to temperatures hovering around zero the whole day). We've had little snow and no blizzards(we usually get at least one).
I'm going to wait to see how the rest of the winter plays out before I start freaking out, but so far, this isn't normal at all thus far. Unsettling.
Last summer was abnormally hot too.

11. I'm in Portage; it just passed over us.
Quiet now, but ten minutes ago, it was thundering and pouring.

9. Lansing's under a tornado watch. This is ridiculous.
Here I am, with a possible tornado heading my way until 11 p.m. Just normal weather, even though in my five decades of life it's never happened before.
