Why no interview with Whittington yet?
Are they waiting for his face to look recognizable before they will let him talk with the press? Is he still sucking food thru a straw? What does he look like? Is he talking? Some would like to hear from the victim.

1. Appearance is my guess
I think he's lucky if he can still see. But I bet his face looks terrible, and will for some time.

39. So is working from the ICU, chatting everyone up in the ICU,
having privacy in the ICU, and dancing a merry little jig in the ICU but, since Whittington is doing all of that, could an interview really be that taxing?

3. He is probably busy generating 48 billable hours a day from
the ICU. Or being kept alive like Terri Schiavo until after the November elections. Who the hell knows?

people say "oh he's fine!" So if that's true why don't they interview him?

32. Perhaps he doesn't want to be interviewed?
I'm sure he simply wants all the fuss to die down so he can get on with his life in peace and quiet. If I was in his place I would feel no obligation to seek out an interview - I would want my privacy.

28. You got it, bananas.
It suddenly occurred to me today, why Cheney never went to the hospital with his friend.

I realized why Cheney never ONCE went to see him, while the entire country is watching, scratching their heads, in disgust.

There's only ONE REASON........

6. Kissing a shotgun will take a few days to heal!!!
Edited on Thu Feb-16-06 09:14 PM by Rick Myers
30 yards my ass. At that range the pattern would be about a yard across. He was hit tight with maybe 200 out of 262 shot pellets in a 28 g 7.5 shotgun round. Half that distance, or closer.

And where is the other witness, Pamela?

And why did Kittie (former Halliburton board member) say she was a witness when she later said the first thing she thought was Dick Vader had a heart attack?

Curiouser and curiouser.

7. My guess is he can't talk.
Shot in the head neck and chest - and we've been told a couple of the pellets are in his larynx. We haven't seen a pic either. You know if he was doing really great, they'd have a smiling pic out there for everyone to see. :hi:

He is a mess and won't clean up easilly. The fact that he is still in the hospital tells it all!

Dick Cheney SHOT A GUY!!! I wish Harry Whittington all the best, and hope he is well. But Dick Cheney SHOT A GUY! The timeline is complete crap. Period. We need to find out all we can, becuase I think someone on the ranch may be Darth Cheney's Monica. Booze, women and guns, and Crashcat can't shoot straight!!!

8. Police from TX interviewed him. He refused to let them record
him. Said his voice was to raspy. Look for the copy of the Sheriff reports here on DU. All he said in the hosp. was that there was no drinking involved, it was an accident, and he agreed to do a written report when he got back to his office.

12. I think he must sound really bad
He's trying to do damage control for Cheney by not giving evidence to how bad he sounds.

I know in my heart that there will be no one allowed near him that hasn't taken an oath of secrecy until/if he recovers completely.

It's just like not showing pictures of the coffins coming home from Iraq. They are hiding it from the public so as to not make it more real.

20. Hmmm, maybe he just doesn't want to sound bad to the people
who know him. Most men have a pretty big ego, and especially lawyers!

I really don't read much into his refusal to have his voice recorded.

25. More likely to me, it wasn't about his voice, but about his words.
Any slip-ups in adhering to the script would be devastating if there was a transcript.

22. Judge Judy: If it doesn't make sense, it isn't true
and another Judge Judyism that applies to the Whittington stuff: Don't pee on my shoe and tell me it is raining.

the whole thing about him remaining in ICU because he wants privacy just doesnt ring true.

9. I would think Mr. Whittington would like his privacy
Personally, I'd tell the media to go fuck off.

Dick Cheney is the story, I am the victim. Leave me alone.

Hello news media: get a clue. I have no obligation to tell you anything. I am a private citizen.

23. That's probably true, but as for myself.
The media would be told in as clear and understandable words as possible

GO AWAY. LEAVE MY ALONE. GET BENT. SUCK EGGS. BLOW OFF. KISS MY ASS.

IF you want to interview me, I'd start the billing at $400 an hour prepaid.

As you can tell, I find it deplorable that the media thinks it has a right to my privacy to sell the news and to profit off my personal injury irregardless of who injured me.

36. conspiracy talk is going to happen no matter what he says.
Whatever story he tells, even the truth, will be sliced, diced and put though the tin foil hat sausage maker.

What ever comes out the other end will be part truth, part bullshit and about 50% fantasy

So why even bother??? The best way to kill this story is to shut up about it.

10. I believe he "issued" a statement earlier today. Said he did not....
want to give an interview because his voice was shot (just kidding- the claim was "hoarse").

I'm saying it is darned difficult to speak on that ventilator when your lips are somewhere on the ground back at the ranch.

any break at all, ever.

Have they ever given us a break?

When will we realize tht you can't be nice to bullies
who, in return, have repeatedly shown that they will
stomp you into the mud and leave you for dead?
