Self-deleted in case this jeopardizes the nomination. I'll hold on to the source material and get "next-level" approval to re-post.

4. This sounds fishy to me

AFAIK the nominees are never revealed.
The statutes of the Nobel Foundation restricts disclosure of information about the nominations, whether publicly or privately, until fifty years have elapsed. The restriction concerns the nominees and nominators as well as investigations and opinions in the awarding of a prize.

7. I thought that too. Not that she doesn't deserve it but they don't work
that way.

10. Right. Didn't we just go through this with a Bush appointee?
No, it was the Florida neurologist in the Terri Sciavo fiasco...

12. There seems to be a disconnect between "nominate" and "recommend"
I suppose anyone on the planet could send a letter off to the Nobel commission and suggest a name but it's as meaningless as if you or I attempted to 'nominate' a Presidential candidate...

13. Aye, but you've got to wonder
Are some people taking advantage of the general public's ignorance about the process? With recent reports of Bush and Bolton being "nominated", which is obviously a cheap publicity stunt, I'd hate to think some on the left are resorting to the same hamhanded propaganda techniques.

But, as you say, not that she doesn't deserve it.

5. Had a feeling she'd be nominated someday, but not quite so soon.
Which was what I was thinking as I looked at the pictures of the "Palace Guard" dragging Cindy out of the SOTU address, "You're dragging what may someday be a Nobel Prize nominee there, fellas...a little more gravitas, please. Because this photo will be part of the legacy."

14. Yes. Many are nominated, only one a year is chosen in all the world.
But a nomination is still an achievement.

And, you can't win unless you are nominated.

I hope her work becomes more world-wide and remains on-message, and that Cindy and Casey win this prize one day.
