230. UPDATE: I'm having a hard time getting the links at congress.org
This is the first time I've been directed to this site (two times today).

Maybe just a lot of traffic, or???

The splash page looks very interesting. Any suggestions?

In peace,

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said she supported the U.S. government decision to approve the deal and that the administration may need to better explain its reasons to Congress.
This grossly understates the poor communication tactics of the Bush administration. Tell me, folks, what are the top three reasons this is being done? bet you can't name one off the top of your head, because there have been none stated...none.

Maybe there's a good reason to award this contract to the country that spawned 9/11, but I can't think of one and I read all the news I possibly can. I think Rice's statement is outright arrogant in its complete disregard for the need to inform the American People.

they were going to level this house and these guys thought it would be fun to create a vortex in the middle. They left it up for some time before leveling it. It made for some cool pictures. Remember, in Houston we have the Orange Show, a house made out of beer cans and the ever popular Art Car parade. Ex centric doesn't necessarily get you arrested here.

Why do the freeper types always type in caps? Why can't they spell, punctuate or use correct grammar?
I've never heard of this congress.org website. It seems to be a freeper stronghold. I was beginning to wonder at what point they would begin to pay attention to what the BFEE is doing to our country.

25. You should check it out!
When you go to Letters to Leaders, you can click on "Letters to Bush". Most of them are actually not freeper letters but outrageously well-written tirades against Bush by Dems. And then you'll see a SMALL sprinkling of the poor slobs who voted for him, telling him "God bless you", and then you'll see Repubs like our little friend above there, describing their final straw.

I think it's fascinating! :)

The BFEE and bin Ladens have been in bed together for years. And yet they're able to hide it in plain sight. Jeeezus Eff'n Christ! Is is any wonder those on the Center and Left are pissed? We have a crime family in power that surpasses any Mafia family in influence and they get away with the death of thousands and the theft of billions. And yet the only time the country was in peril was when Bill got his knob polished. I have to wonder, was the State of the Union in danger when GHW was porking Jenny?

"To:

February 17, 2006

Mr. President,
With all do respect your administration is wrong on allowing firms from the UAE or other countries to help secure our ports. Under no circumstances should anyone but Americans handle this all important task. I have asked my senators and congressman to push legislation to stop this mistake. I can not understand why you of all people would even consider it. You have had my vote twice. I support you and pray for you often but I will not support this and will ask the Congress to stop it. Please reconsider your administration's position on this matter. And please don't take conservative republicans for granted on this one.

115. See, that's the thing. I'm re-reading a lot
of these notes and letters. Some are earnest appeals from bush-worshipping republicans to *snort* listen to them and think about what he's doing. That's just SAD. There are others (the fighters) saying, "You've slapped us in the face", and of course, my favorite sample in the OP, "ARE YOU BACK ON THE SAUCE? YOU BELONG IN A RUBBER ROOM, GEORGIE".

It makes me wonder how many of them had little twinges of regret before this.

That support is beyond me. I cannot for the life of me understand what goes on in Bush's brain. We need a president who will put the concerns of this country first. Further, Bush listens to that fool of a father of his. His Dad is an appeaser. And so is Bush the Second.

As a responsible republican voter and concerned citizen of our great country, I want to go on record that I am absolutely alarmed and stupefied at the proposal to give security authority over our ports to an Arab nation.

With all due respect to the office of the president, I would like to aks who is responsible for this proposal which is a grave error and which suggests that you have lost your minds!!!

This is complete insanity. I completely disagree with this proposal and can not for the life of me understand how any American can think that this is a good idea.

I will remind you that this is an election year and that conservative Americans are absolutely paying attention to everything our government is doing!

This proposal needs to be rescinded immediately by the president! Our ports should be controlled by trusted American entities. Arabs can not be trusted with anything!!!

I look forward to hearing that this proposal has been withdrawn and thank you for your consideration in this matter!

To: squarebarb

Daniel 7:19 Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth iron, and his nails brass; devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet;

Dan 7:20 And of the ten horns that in his head, and the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look more stout than his fellows.

Dan 7:21 I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;

Dan 7:22 Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.

Dan 7:23 Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.

Dan 7:24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom ten kings shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.

Dan 7:25 And he shall speak words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

He did it years ago and they called him a wacko for it. Hell, just go visit his website. It's all there: http://www.michaelmoore.com/books-films/f911reader/index.php?id=17 (down toward the bottom half of the page).

Could be just the thing to get the ball rolling...

56. I found one message for Bush that makes no sense at all.
To:
President George Bush

February 17, 2006

Most say the actions of modern societies are examples of our fathers prophecies. I just wish all man hope.

One thing I've questioned is this. We always hear of other countries' nuclear power or ambition to gain that power. What power do we have ? I think either we dont have anything, or we have alot. nothing in between. The reason why other countries think of us as they do.

No matter the future, I have learned to keep the faith in our Brother & Father. Mostly due to the status of our world.

Thanks for listening.

sumville , MA

I am unable to coax any meaning whatsoever out of this gibberish. What am I missing, O Brother & Father?

112. They might, and we'll see what happens,
but the confidence with which they speak seems to be based on the rabidness (is that a word?) of the republican party. I am optimistic in this ONE case because the republican "rabidness" is also based on fear. They are showing that they're beginning to feel sold out.

I'm collecting quotes from FR and Congress.org as fast as they come, because this is one of the first times I've seen REAL dissent based on fear (can you imagine? no REAL dissent for the way Katrina was handled).

116. That's par for the course, but...
I'm not sure it will work this time. The simple fact is that the UAE supports the Taliban and helped funnel money to al Qaeda. And Bush OK'ed the sale of our ports to a UAE company. Every American, right and left, is upset about it. If the right-wing press starts trying to spin it positive, it may just wake up some of these guys to the credibility of Limbaugh, Hannity and O'Reilly. Maybe, after all these years, they will finally figure out that they've been being played.

But far more likely to happen is that Bush will do a 180 on this and say "of course we're not going to sell our ports to the UAE". He'll then blame some low-level shmuck for OK'ing the transfer in the first place. Then it will be all "Yay! Our president did the right thing! He really listens to our concerns!"

Now what will really be interesting is if he doesn't do that. If he pushes for the sale to go through. That will be fun to see.

To my elected officials,

I want to STRONGLY urge you to reverse the decision of the Committee on Foreign Investment to allow the UAE through its control of Dubai Ports World to control security of the major ports of the United States of America.

Mr. President, I am completely opposed to your administration’s support of this nonsense.

To my representatives, PLEASE BLOCK THIS!!!

It is absolutely baffling and perplexing how the Bush administration (whch I usually support (except for its WEAK border security position and its support of outrageous spending in gov't)) could think this is a reasonable idea. The UAE is hardly a reasonable government wrt their policies on Israel, the Taliban, the PLO, terrorism, their well-known ties to 911, etc. The idea that they’d properly control Dubai Ports World to do a great job with security of our ports from our #1 thread (Islamic fanatics) is absurd.

DO NOT ALLOW THIS.

I hate to think that I’m siding with the likes of “Senators” Schumer and Clinton (quotes intentional). The Bush admin's policies on border security are what I’d expect from the touchy-feely Left, not the conservative Right.

PLEASE DO NOT ALLOW THIS NONSENSE TO COME TRUE.

Although I do feel sorry for some of them ~ they are so sincere.

For Sugar Smack, another historical post from freeperville to add to your collection ~

To: Stellar Dendrite; Mr. Mojo

We have been sold out and betrayed by Bush......AGAIN!!!!!! Giving ANYTHING to a Muslim country is total insanity. Do you think Muslim countries would allow Americans to buy part of their country? NO they wouldn't! They want to kill us on sight.

It's pretty pathetic when I find myself agreeing with RATS. THAT'S how far the GOP has drifted to the left. I honestly think it's time we have another tea party, only this time we need to throw the DC traitors in the water!! Next, they will give a blanket amnesty disguised as a "guest worker" program. I'm so angry I have to go off line for a while before I say what I REALLY want to say!!!!

Has President Bush lost his mind? Turning our port protection to an Arab owned company? I am asking that impeachment proceedings begin. We must have "damage control." Bush is not mentally capable of leading this nation any longer, we have reached a crisis point. As a life long republican I believe that Bush has completely destroyed any chances of republicans maintaining control at the Federal or State levels.

Bush and Greenspan have devastated the American economy and I fear we are about to see a major adjustment similar to the great depression.

God help us all. Impeachment proceedings MUST BEGIN IMMEDIATELY.

If the R's in congress split -- with half wanting to overturn him, the D's agree -- on the condition we get intelligence investagtions, Katrina independent councils, etc. We become the powerbroker, and finally get some of our national security questions answered.

If he really "cared", bin Laden would have been in custody years ago, and we NEVER would have invaded Iraq.

If there's a buck to be made selling our security to the highest foreign bidder, Dubya (and The Halliburton Vice-Presidency) will sell this country out faster than you can say "DUCK! Cheney's got a gun!".

You know, rather than dismiss us as "touchy-feely", perhaps these hard hearted money-grubbers would be better served wondering WHO is the party that looks out for them? That would be us 'touchy-feely' types. The ones that are the strongest on homeland defense, looking out for our troops, looking out for our vets, our kids, our elderly, the disabled. This person in Granite Bay had better be careful, they might have an epiphany and realize they've been duped.

I have such mixed feelings about it, too-

1)The cloud that's covered us, our unheeded warnings, the crowing of the right wing, our fear, hopelessness & embarrassment at our daily confrontation of this monstrous administration

2)The very FACT that there is enough humanity left in these Bush supporters to listen to their instincts. We don't have to call it "empathy"; maybe it's fear, but it's a shred of humanity nonetheless

168. Loss of base
I am moved to pity to see a simple trusting love so betrayed.

This fellow is from a culture that values simple common values over diversity. They favor conformity because the community lacks the resources to manage much change. This is the voice of Bush's real base, and it is a rueful voice, a frantic voice, a voice without a lot of hope.

If there was ever a time to win the red rural American back to progressive values, it would be to re-assert the new deal, the fair deal, and a really new deal as our common platform.

They finally get that they have been had. Now they need to be asked if the people who have screwed them need any more wealth or power?

Which is worse, paying taxes and getting back to making the products of civilization or an economy of weapons, crony capitalists, and a GNP measured in bodies and oil drums? I think that the red regions are begging for butter, and tired of all guns.

MiniTruth is losing control, and things fall quickly that are played this hard. I will say this to the freeper. I empathize because I have lived this dysphoria fully five years longer than you.

"To:
President George Bush

February 18, 2006

Dear President Bush:

I have been a strong supporter of you and most of you policies since 2000 (the rampant illegal immigration situation aside).

I admire your strong convictions on keeping our homeland secure and your efforts on the "War on Terror". The left bashing can be exausting also.

However, I STRONGLY disagree with turning over operation & control of 6 of our most important commercial ports to a UAE company (DP World).

I know you consider UAE an ally in fighting the war on terror, but there comes a time when we have to take a hard look at possible future consequences to our security, which you are working so hard to maintain. I for one would not want to see another 911 nor anything close to that on our soil again.

This sale is NOT being played in the mainstream media but the conservative talk shows have been dedicating all air time to it over the last 2-3 days. Some Democrates are outraged, as they should be, and working to get this sale overturned. ALL the Republicans should be leading on this.

YOU can block this sale as a matter of "threat to national security" with one directive.

For God Sakes and for all those brave military personnel who have given their time, efforts, and LIVES for this ongoing War on Terror, take this bull by the horns and address it before it is too late to do so. The sale is scheduled to be approved on Monday, Feb 20th, just 2 days from now.

Don't let the Dems shine on this. And please don't sway the deep respect and strong allegiance those brave military men & women have for you, their leader, in this important time in history.

Why was I not surprised to learn that you voted "No" to Judge Alito's confirmation? Because you have developed that familiar partisan party stance which is opposed to ANYTHING our President is for. When will you realize that the American people could care less about your personal political ambitions? We're interested in a just, moral society in which to live and raise our children, and we're sick of liberal, immoral justices who are doing their best to lead our Country to certain ruin.
I can only hope that when the time comes for you to run again for office, you either won't, or will be soundly defeated!

Now the best JOKE of all, sell are seaports to an Arab country. I guess the lobbyist have won again. They have now been able to buy the support of this government to sell are seaports. This dose not even pass the smell test. You have to believe the American people are complete bunch of idiots and can be lead around like a dog on a leash by our elected officials.
Or with the help of this government get it though without our knowledge. I guess we would be told that you had discussed this with ranking members of the House and Senate and they concluded there was no need to inform the general public or this is a national security matter and this would make us more secure from the Terrorists. How do we stop this? What are you going to do about this?
As our elected official I’m asking you to stop this sale. I’m 64 years old and both my wife and I have been registered Republican all our lives, but things can and will change.

Homeland Security doesn't mean anything with wide-open borders. Illegals sap our resources; the rich and powerful benefit; the middle and lower classes are hurt. Please don't be one of the majority of politicians of both parties: sell-outs and hypocrites. Real conservatives who ACT, not just talk, will get my vote. PS The abortion issue is irrelevant to me and many other conservatives. Don't get mired in it; we don't care; we want to survive as a free country with the freedoms of the original constitution.

Dear Honorable Mr. Sabo,

I am very often aligned with your thinking and votes, and I thank you for serving us Minnesotans so well in Washington. That said, how can you lend you name to H. J. RES. 24? To remind you, the sole item in the bill is to repeal the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution of the United States. Are you serious? At this point, the 22nd Amendment is the only thing protecting us for even further damage by the Bush administration. Please explain your thinking on this. I can not think of any benefit to the citizens by this action. I am very disappointed.

I mean.. that's pretty much what this dipshits are saying. Unless they are Native American, which I bet they're not, their families had to immigrate here at some point. It's not the borders being open that is a problem, it's the increasing financial burden the Feds are forcing onto the border states, to provide services for the immigrants, legal and otherwise.

Mr President, Just by chance my thoughts are worth anything to this country,I wish to state I am against any new laws to make the illegal persons that are in our country to be given a legal statis...We have laws that are to be followed and they did not do that....So send them back and let those that follow the rules we have come in if and as they are needed...I also think we should be making the government smaller and not keep making new programs that we can not afford....Goverment was not meant to be the big brother and watch over all of us...As a life long Republican , I am about to change to an independant and hope someone will start a new conservative party as the Republican party has lost its direction in my eyes....When growing up my family needed relief and think we need to help those that are in a bind till they get on their feet. But no way should government keep a welfare program that lets many never work . Temporary help ,yes, life time ,no....I am a retired ,70 year old man ,that has seen so much good happen in this country , but am concerned as to our direction now and that has brought me to writing this letter...Thank you for doing so much good...just get back on track and do away with the present tax code and give us a simple added or straight tax with out all the loop holes ...

Dear President Bush,

Has our Federal Government and this Administration gone completely INSANE? To turn over ownership and management of the ports of the United States of America to the United Arab Emirates is nothing but total insanity! How stupid do you think We The People are? We know that no middle eastern nation is a true friend, no matter how much Washington tries to convince us otherwise.

Sir, you are answerable to the American people only, not to any foreign nation! If this sale is allowed to go through, I will change my party membership from Republican to Constitution and work to see every elected official who supported this insanity booted from office and will NEVER vote Republican again.

With very little respect at this point......."

http://www.constitutionparty.com/

"George Washington feared two threats to America above all others, the corrupting influence of political parties with their selfish spirit of faction, and the weakening of the influence of religious morality on public life. On both counts, his fears were well-founded, as recent experience shows. The Democrats and Republicans have squandered the Founders'' legacy of liberty and justice under the Constitution. Countless government officials in the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of government ignore their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution.

Join the Constitution Party in its work to restore our government to its Constitutional limits and our law to its Biblical foundations."

"To:
President George Bush

February 19, 2006

Dear Mr. President:

Today I read an article in our local paper regarding the sale of U.S. ports to the United Arab Emirates. This was so upsetting to me hours later, I am still shaking. Why? I live in New Jersey. I can see the NY skyline in the distance and the Port of Newark is just down the road. And yes, I know exactly where I was at 9 a.m. on 9/11. I relive a bit of that day every time a plane passes overhead, which is about every 15 minutes some days.

I will not pretend to be an world economic wizard with great insight into the running of a country's imports and exports. I am simply a retired homemaker. However, I was blessed with common sense and this possible sale, Sir, makes no sense. In fact, if I may be so bold, it is one of the most insane proposals I have ever heard.

I do not care who came up with the idea, I do not care if it is "perfectly legal". It is wrong and simply cannot be allowed to happen. You have stated over and over again how vulnerable our ports are and how much more has to be done to make them secure. How can you even consider allowing this to happen?

I grew up during the time of the Cold War. I remember well hiding under my desk in school and being stuffed into the hallways, covering ourselves with our coats. Mr. President, I am tired of being afraid. I put my faith and trust in you that you would lead and protect our nation. Please do not let me down by allowing this to happen.

Thank you.

"To:
President George Bush

February 19, 2006

Mr. President:

I am not very eloquent with regards to writing letters. However, I am going to try.
I am a 29-year veteran of the U.S. Navy. I have always believed in truth, honesty, and integrity. I voted for you in 2000 and in 2004 because I had believed you wanted to do right for our country for which many have died and are still dying.
Unfortunately, you have totally disappointed me. Whether your actions and those of your party are truly in support of big business (Pharmaceutical, Oil, Insurance, etc) or we just do not know the whole story, the perception that I am seeing is you do not really care about the American people. It seems that everything you do is for your "buddies." I have not once heard you or your party take responsibility for anything that has gone wrong. You always seem to "pass the buck" or make excuses, or just dismiss things.

While it appears that that majority of our members of government are corrupt and there may not be much I as an individual can do about it, you can rest assure I will return to my former position of voting Democrat in both the most of the state elections and definitely in the Presidential election.

I hope Sir, that you are happy with the way you appear to be turning your back on our country, even though you have sworn to protect and defend her to the best of your ability. The American people voted you into office to serve and protect them and there way of life. Not for the special select few that you appear to be serving.

Additionally, I strongly disagree with your plans for all the "illegal" immigrants that are in our country and continue to come into our country. They are breaking the law and you want to give them clemency with your "guest worker" program. If I break the law, I do not think I would be given a free pass. How is this fair to the Americans you swore to serve and protect.

Sir, when I was in the military, I upheld my oath. I would expect nothing more of you or any other member of our government.

Shame on you sir for letting us down.

While I am sure, no human being will read this email, and you will definitely not see it, I want to go on record to let you know of my displeasure.

Very Respectfully,

Lomita , CA"

Neither party follows anything other than a specific agenda that has been in place for decades.
A lot of people believe that. Who is behind it, when did it start? I did not want to believe this.

What the little guy wants is not their concern.

That's been apparent for a long time now. And the little guys *are* divided about some issues, but blue collar workers and white collar workers except in the upper echelon should have common cause in outsourcing. Maybe we're better off with not such a robust economy; I mean inflation has climbed so high now that it benefits one class of people at the expense of the other (class distinctions are getting blurred).

Their concern is the corporation, the banks, and the top elite.

It would seem so. What a mess. I don't want any more Ivy League presidents if this is what we're going to get out of it. There all a bunch of good old boys. As to the universities, they are pretty hopeless, too, as they are way too leftist. Centrist universities? Now there's a novel idea.

I thought all this Skull and Bones, all the other groups were nonsense. Now I don't know. I suppose we can't talk about it on FR. I'm beginning to feel betrayed. They say both parties are the same. To some extent that is true, but I will never switch over to the other side unless they get off their abortion, anti-life agenda. As if the Republicans are doing anything concrete to halt the avalanche; it's mostly rhetoric.

The U.A.E. Takes Over: or Have Our Politicans Lost Their Minds?

Homeland security Director Michael Chertoff says it’s fine that we turn over security of six of our ports to Dubai Ports World. Fire Michael Chertoff…and cancel this deal with the UAE owned Dubai Ports World. Handing security of American ports over to a UAE based company is the same as turning security over to a Berlin-based company during World War II. We are at war with terrorism, and the UAE is in bed with the terrorists. It can NOT happen. The American voters will not stand for it.
We, the American people, are ready to lay down all of our differences, politically, to stop this from happening. Have you checked out the blogs and internet political chat rooms? Mortal enemies there are finding that we all agree, handing our port security over to a company from the UAE is tantamount to inviting terrorists to bring in nuclear weapons and murder our citizens en masse.
Any and all politicians who support this suicidal action must be removed from office, not later, not the next election, but NOW!
I am both shocked and appalled to find myself in agreement with Chuck Schumer, but there it is. I despise liberalism to it’s very core, but if a liberal is the one to lead this charge, to stop this insanity, I will follow him.
Turn over our ports to the UAE, who still recognize the Taliban as the official government of Afghanistan? The UAE who helped fund the 9-11-01 terrorists who killed our people in the World Trade Towers? The UAE where 15 of the 19 suicide terrorists of 9-11 came from? Have our politicians lost their collective minds?
They must have if they thought that they could do this and still retain their jobs.
Remove from office anyone trying to carry through with this deal, because we, the American voters will surely remove them and anyone who supports them the next election.

An American voter,
Formerly a Republican,
Now completely undecided.

Why are we shooting a hole in our Republican foot and putting a dagger in our nation’s security's heart. Turning our port authority over to an Arab country is the most ridiculous idiotic nonsensical plan that I have ever heard. These people are committed to our destruction and death to our nation and people. They are not speaking figuratively either. These are real threats from real Moslems in authority in their real countries. Do we really think we can trust them? If we do and we do this deal I will say good buy to any support for my Republican Party or anyone who has not stood up and yelled at the top of his lungs that this is wrong.

I understand from the news that we are planing on giving control of 6 or more of our ports to the Arabs. As an American Tax Payer and Voting Citizen want it understood. IF this or any other concession's to foreign entities are allowed I will consider it a huge breach of National Security. Furthermore, I will consider it an act worthy of switching my voting parties. Currently all of my family members are VOTING REPUBLICANS but this will be the last straw. If this allowed I will vote STRAIGHT DEMOCRATIC in the next election!

I feel that the direction of the republicans and the Whitehouse has been is completely out of control. I am paying way to much for GASOLINE while the refining companies EXXON, BP, AMOCO etc are getting extremely rich on our backs.

I feel that while I understand the concern for the people of the gulf region is valid, I don't see where it is constitutionally backed. If my house was washed away here in Kansas or blown away by a tornado, the Federal Government might come in and offer low interest loans but that would be it. If I was built in a flood plane I would be told to bad, so sad! The billions of dollars that have been spent and are promised and mismanaged are offensive!

I believe it is time for the Republican Party to stand up for the needs of the MANY not the few! I hope you will act on my concerns in a truly Republican, conservative nature. Make it again easy for me to be proud to say I am backing President Bush and the Republican Party! To think of voting for anything that is associated with Ted Kennedy or John Kerry is very repulsive but you are pushing me that way with the current actions.

253. True Republicans are getting FED UP!
They are shocked at what is going on in their government. They can't believe that their party has become so corrupt. They are disturbed that the religious zealots who do not speak for them carry so much weight in decisions affecting the country.

I wouldn't be too surprised to see a backlash from many true Republican voters in November. They are also getting fed up.

Sure, some are. But the President has been PUSHING for this deal TO HAPPEN.

In this case, **W IS WRONG** and the **DEMS ARE RIGHT**. It makes me sick to say it, but it's true.

I can't believe you would give your blessing to relinquishing any type of port control to another country. In this day and age when we are spending billiions to help secure our borders and promote freedom around the world at the expense of American lives, how in the world can you support a change at the six american ports that reduces our control and subjects us to foreign security measures.

I thoroughly disappointed in you. I voted twice for your and for your dad. You're letting me down!

269. True "conservatives", too
A true conservative doesn't squander billions on an unnecessary war. A true conservative doesn't pay his crony's company 3x the going rate for services.

A true conservative doesn't believe in expanding the government's role in our lives.

A true conservative doesn't run up deficits as far as the eye can see on superflous porkbarrel programs that line his political allies' pockets.

A true conservative doesn't believe in shredding the constitution to ensure greater "freedom"-- and then disguise it as a "Patriot Act".

Conservatives are angry. And rightfully so. This president has sold them down the river.

Sale of Six US ports to Arab companies

To:
President George Bush

February 19, 2006

Mr. President,

I was highly distressed this evening to read a news item on the Internet regarding the sale of six of our busiest ports to an Arab company from the UAE. I would like to appeal to you directly to intervene in this matter to stop this sale and to launch an investigation.

It seems on the surface to be the epitome of political correctness gone wrong to even consider such a sale. I am confident that there is much more going on behind the scenes, but I do believe that this merits much closer scrutiny and deliberation before such a potentially dangerous step is taken. Once we make such a step, it will be difficult if not impossible to extricate ourselves from it, should it prove wrong.

Mr. President, I know that you are a good and honorable man and that you truly desire the best for this nation. I believe, as you do, that we must not let our guard down in this war on terror. Selling any of our major ports to any foreign government at this time would be a risky move; but selling to a government with such close ties to 9/11 and with strong ethnic, religious and political ties to our enemies I believe would be foolhardy.

I appeal to you to stand up for our citizens and not allow this sale to proceed.

Thank you for your attention and for your continued devotion to America. I continue to stand behind you and to pray for you daily.

Benton , AR"

264. Then it shows how desperate they really are
If they have to resort to rolling around in their own shit to "motivate" their base, then it goes to show how screwed they really are.

Just look at the numbers: a majority of Americans now think Iraq was wrong, there's dissention in the ranks in the congressional GOP, Ari Fleisher openly questioned how the Cheney shooting incident was handled,... the list goes on and on.

This tactic reminds me of how we defended the destruction of villages in VietNam: "we destroyed the village to save it (from the Viet Cong)". It's a bankrupt and highly suspect maneuver-- if it IS a maneuver.

Dear Mr. President,

With all due respect to you and your office, who the hell turned over the security of our ports to a foreign government or an independent business operating in a country other than ours? This latest fiasco of turning over the security to the arab company after approval by our Homeland Security should be enough reason to do away with Secretary Chertoff as if New Orleans disaster wasn’t enough. Its time for people in this great Country of ours to stand up and say we’ve had it and that’s what I’m doing. I’ve had it and if you think turning the security of some of the most important and sensitive entry points of the United States to a company owned or operated by a foreign government of any nation other than our own, I will have to agree with your opponents, It’s time for you to leave office. A war is tough and difficult for you to justify. Reaction or lack of reaction to a natural disaster is equally difficult to justify but those actions can be rationalized and reacted to in a positive way. The security changes in this Nation post 9/11 cannot and will not be allowed to be compromised by any one man or office. This is a matter that should have been dealt with by your office and has not been. Therefore you must change this outcome immediately or be removed from office. It’s as simple as that, the decision is yours, we voted for you to do the job now do it or we’ll vote for someone who will."

How could you ever allow anything Arab to control anything US??? I am left with my mouth wide open in disbelief and disgust. They hate us and they live among us waiting to strike again. You know this and I can't believe you are going to allow this. Political correctness has gone far enough and this is one American who is tired of our powerful country walking on eggshells making sure we pat the right backs and make others feel good. We are at war with a hidden enemy and they are hidden here!!!!! I have lost friends. family and students in this war and now you are opening the door to them freely. Drugs get smuggled so easily into our country, now I fear the other itmes coming in...bombs, chemical weapons, nuclear bombs...are you crazy??????Chertoff is an idiot and for him not to be saying this is sheer stupidity tells me a lot - he needs to go. Any American could do a better job at protecting our country because we are not afraid to do the obvious things that need to be done. Allowing an Arab company to have control of our ports would not be something any sane American would allow. How dare you put our country at more of a risk than it is already at. Gee, would Iran let us control
its airports, how about Syria or North Korea?? How about Saudi Arabia...you know..the place where most of the 9/11 terrorists came from!!!! Our forefathers are probably rolling in their graves at the way we have so conveniently distorted and misinterpreted the constitution. Nowhere in the letter does he say he ever supported Bush. He does not say one freeperish thing in the letter.
Nowhere does he disparage Democrats, but rightfully bemoans the fact that "Dems cant do much, unfortunately."
I'm disappointed that out of more than 300 reponses to the OP, not one person has pointed out that there is no evidence of a freeper here and that you are all dissing the letter simply on the basis of spelling errors and all caps.
Instead of mocking this person, you should be embracing him. There is nothing in the letter that hasn't been said a million times before here on DU.

"To:
President George Bush

ARE WE SUICIDAL? THESE ARE THE SAME NUTS WHO WON'T TURN OVER A MASS MURDERER FOR A $50 MILLION REWARD! THE SAME CRAZIES WHO ARE RIOTING IN MANY COUNTRIES AND KILLING INNOCENT PEOPLE OVER A NEWSPAPER DRAWING! THE SAME EXTREMISTS WHO ARE STILL FIGHTING THE CRUSADES!

I WILL NEVER VOTE FOR ANOTHER REPUBLICAN IN MY LIFE!

321. I love this one:
""Geez, why does he have such a woody about this?"

Let me guess... do you remember the hand holding with the Saudi prince?

The press and the dems will eat him alive for this one.

323. Another actual post from FR.
Another actual post from FR.

"You know, sometimes I honestly wonder if I voted for and went out of my way to support a complete and total moron. These guys are so embarrasssing at times it's just absurd."

I bet for every misguided conservative actually writing such sentiments, there are another 10 or so that are silently thinking the same.
