Does this sound crazy to you? And a question for you

[The Straight Story]

In order to protect our freedom and way of existing in general we have a military to insure no one comes in and takes us over. Ok sounds good so far.

We all chip in and pay for this. Still doing well.

Now - what other things threaten our freedom - freedom to things (like pursue happiness, life, liberty, et al)?
1. Health:
A. Corporations/companies (small and large) have often as their by-product a lot of pollution, which threatens our health (and NO not saying we should get rid of companies and such, read on).
B. Our own actions which affect each other (burning fires, driving cars, and so on) affect more than just ourselves.
C. Disease, and so on which we transmit to one another.

Question: If we pay for the military (and the health of it's members and the members of all government) so that we can be free from outside threats why aren't we paying for the issues inside the country which take more lives than foreign aggressors?

Now my question for you - what other things internally threaten our freedoms and why is the right so opposed for paying for those things (like healthcare) but all gung-ho for weapons?

Housing (not a free house, a guaranteed loan for anyone 1st time regardless of situation), Education (sure we have free k-12 but needs improved and college and tech schools?), just add to the list and make a case - would be interesting.

Unless I am just nuts and freedom only means being able to kill people better than others.
