Bush should come out against this deal today, not let it sit around collecting media/liberal dust for the next 3 weeks so it can become yet another big controversy. Is it that difficult for American companies to run our ports?

Even if their effort is all BS to embarass GWB, I will support this effort. That's the difference between Libs and Conservatives. We will agree with a good idea, even if we don't agree with the people behind it. That, dear Libs, is diversity

PREACH ON!!

1. Even a stopped clock is right
twice a day. Frankly, I take this as good news-we've finally found that all freepers aren't ready to blindly follow Bush wherever he goes, but that they will draw the line somewhere. Maybe some will have their eyes opened.

3. I agree
but I wonder why this seems to be the only issue they have clarity on.

4. I think it may just be a crack in their armor
If we can penetrate it further, maybe, just maybe we can sing them around...
What am I thinking. They will never come around, KKKarl will just issue another round of Kool-Aid.

8. This is an issue that flies in the face ...
... of everything they've been spoon-fed (and happily digested) by their Fearless Leader up to now.

In everything Bush has said up to now, there was the subliminal message that Arabs and Muslims cannot be trusted, ever. That fear and suspicion was necessary, in order for 'playing the fear card' to work with these people, time after time.

Well, you can't say, "We've got to be vigilant, 24/7. We've got to keep four-year-olds with Muslim-sounding names off our airplanes. We can't allow someone like Cat Stevens to enter our country, because he could be a guitar-playin' terrorist," and then turn around and say, "Guess what, folks? We're going to allow ARABS to control our ports!"

Someone started a thread last night on this topic, with the header: "I think the president just cut his own throat."

I think that poster was right. With the constant fear-mongering and anti-Muslim/Arab rhetoric being spewed by this Administration, changing their stance now won't cut it with the very people they've managed to convince.

On this issue, the Repubs are feeling ESPECIALLY BETRAYED. This is going to get VERY interesting ...

6. Why? Easy: Two big RW issues - Fear and Intolerance
Edited on Fri Feb-17-06 03:11 PM by Dunvegan
They didn't mind when the English ran the ports, so it's not outsourcing alone.

It's a two hot button issue for Fweepies:
    1. Fear and Dislike of Middle-Easterners

    2. Fear of Terorism

Politics indeed make for strange bedfellows. The above is why we wake up and find Fweepies with their heads on the pillow next to us this morning.

(We mushs a ben drunk at lash-call.)
