Petition For Safe Release of Jill Carroll Needs Your Help

The petition for the Ms. Carroll has be online for a week today, and has nearly 300 signatures-- far far from what is needed to make an impact on her situation. Concerned citizens, Ms. Carroll deadline drawls closer everyday and is receiving less and less media attention. Will You help by posting the petition on your blog sites, forwarding the petition to a friends, anything to kick up some dust and let her holders know we are concerned. I can list people who wish to help as co-sponsors of the petition (even list their sites) and now have complete administrative control. Please, please join in the effort. It can make a difference.

3. Not to be cynical, but . . .

The lady's captors are not going to respond to any sort of petition, except perhaps to pat themselves on the back for having stirred up more publicity for themselves. There is, I guess, a remote chance that they'll keep her alive longer if they can harvest a smidgen more public notice.

I suppose such things can make us feel better -- sort of raging agains the dying of the light -- but I can't see much of any practical benefit.

And to all the cynics, I know that a large number of signatures on this petition would make a difference. We have to show her holders that they have our attention and maybe they will release with a message instead of make her the message. Why try to dissuade people from signing this petition? I may believe that ice hockey is a ridiculous sport but I don't try to talk fan out-of watching it...
