It just seems to me that it is SO OBVIOUS. I seriously believe that we who believe the way we do (progressively; anti-Bush anti-neocon values etc.) are in the majority AND HAVE BEEN FOR FIVE YEARS. I just think the media and the administration have done a bang-up job of pulling the wool over our eyes/snowing us blind. We are the majority and we have been. To believe otherwise is what they are counting on. Simple as that. I freely admit I may be wrong..but I fear I am more right that we want to admit. Do you understand what I mean? How signifigant this simple idea could be? If we realize that this was and continues to be the case....think about Nazi Germany. Everyone though everyone else thought Hitler was right...so they didn't speak up. If we wake up and realize that we have all pretty much been on the same side ALL ALONG. Ouch. Scary shit. Eh? *zipping up flame suit just in case*
Point being..Media is SO AT FAULT HERE..SOOOOOOO AT FAULT. But; one should find it in oneself to find out the truth.

I think all of the talk after the last election about how we can "win" was really pointless. I believe our side did have more votes. I also believe that the vast majority of Americans support progressive ideals, but they have been brainwashed into thinking that liberal=bad. You're completely right in blaming the media. They are either complicit, cowardly, or just plain stupid. It's like there has been a hugely successful media campaign to make us fel as though we're alone in our fight against BushCo and their fascist tendancies, but I just don't think that's true. Those in power have EVERY REASON to want us to feel hopeless and isolated.

Feet to the Fire: The Media After 9/11 Kristina Borjesson
Journalist Kristina Borjesson talks about her book “Feet to the Fire: The Media After 9/11,” in which she interviews some of today’s top journalists about the current “era of crisis.” Ms. Borjesson compares how reporters covering the war feel about the efforts of the current administration to limit media access to the front lines. The author interviews journalists including Ted Koppel, former anchor of Nightline.
Kristina Borjesson is a former CBS and CNN producer and currently produces and co-hosts WBAI Radio's "Expert Witness" show. She is the author of "Into the Buzzsaw: Leading Journalists Expose the Myth of a Free Press."

the difference is that the media lie and lie and lie and act like joe american believes him...but that is not true...we are all just waiting for a leader to start this damn thing...a handful of people in congress with no power cant do it...and right, they've got all the money and spend our money to pay for propaganda..but we've got the numbers...i would take any bet on that.....

There are MANY factors at play, not least of which are the MSM. But the corporate-run government, along with the corporate-owned media first had to rollback a bunch of FCC rules in order to expand the sphere of monopolistic media's influence by the likes of GE and Westinghouse (major defense contractors). I support an organization called Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting, a media watch group on a shoestring budget. And I support DU. I believe we make a difference. Maybe not with the scope of the major networks, but me definitely make a difference.

and I still believe tha'ts the case. Even the people that see what's going on and are mad as hell about it feel there's no reason to fight it, so many of them just turn their backs. They think it's a losing battle, so there's little resistance. Fortunately, there are more and more people that do know better and try to look beyond the make believe world the media creates for us. Helen Thomas said tonight on Bill Maher, "Where's the anger?" I went to a meeting the other night and saw the anger. I get emails every day expressing the anger. I want to respond to Ms. Thomas, does she think the media will report our anger? When no one hears a tree fall in the woods, does it still make a sound? Take it another step - If no one hears it, does it not damage any other trees on the way down? If no one reports it, we can still make an impact, as long as we quit believing their lies, especially about popular opinion.

6. Your analysis is sound. INSIGHTFUL, even! |

They have really NEVER spent any effort to convince us that they are correct; their propaganda intends to convince us that EVERYONE ELSE thinks they are correct.
So the vast majority (and it is truly VAST) who disagree with everything they stand for remain quiet; afraid to speak up because they have been saddled with the vague FEELING that they are a minority, a fringe-dweller far outside the mainstream.
(BTW, kudos on yer Blackadder quote. Rowan is a frickin GENIUS!)
