UAE takes stake in Time Warner, hires Carl Icahn
WASHINGTON - United Arab Emirates-based media investment company Istithmar PJSC, through $2 billion in participation notes issued by UBS AG, now controls 2.39 percent of Time Warner Inc.‘s (NYSE:TWX - news) stock and has hired one of Carl Icahn‘s entities as its advisor, according to a regulatory filing on Thursday.

The notes give Istithmar effective control over and economic exposure to over 109 million Time Warner shares, the filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Securities and Exchange Commission said.

Under the agreement, UBS does not have economic exposure or control over the shares.

1. Hmm.. one wonders what effect this will have..
..on some CNN personalities' (ie. Jack Cafferty, Lou Dobbs) outspoken views on the UAE-controlled American ports issue..!

5. Carl Ichan wants to split Time/Warner up back into the pieces it
was before merger with AOL.

I checked out Ichan's background. He used to vote Dem...actually was a Gore supporter in 88 and then once he made his millions/billions he started giving to both parties.

I'd be for a break up of Time Warner. I'm kind of sick of seeing Wolf Blitzer 6 days a week.

I'm angry about UAI's controlling our ports and the Saudi's are probably proping our Stock Market and our Real Estate market too. So...why not have them own Time Warner? Maybe they should buy MSNBC/CNBC also.

After all...It's Globilization and it's "Good for Us" according to the Repugs....

Bring it on....let's just go bomb the Middle East while the UAI's run our country. Why not?

6. Look at what a problem....
al Qaeda is in Saudi Arabia. Interesting website:

13. The late Al-Muqrin did not agree with this point of view. He wanted the jihad against the Saudi ruling family in Saudi territory and the jihad against the Americans in Iraq to be waged simultaneously, with the one complementing and sustaining the other. Till now, Al-Oufi has gone along with this view. It remains to be seen whether he would continue to do so now that he has taken over as the head of Al Qaeda in Saudi Arabia.
