They've been planning the takeover of our election system for a long time--just as they've been planning for a long time to loot us blind, to destroy our government, and to mire us in their horrendous Middle East war for oil.
This is not going to be an easy fight. Election reform is the FIRST battle--and the most important one. We have almost no allies. Not the Democratic Party (except for a few wonderful exceptions), not the war profiteering corporate news monopolies, not the courts (increasingly). Who can we turn to? Guess what? WE are our democracy. WE, the sovereign people of the United States. We MUST restore our right to vote--and we will. But we can't give up at every setback. We cannot permit them to win this fight--no matter how long it takes.
Many have died for our right to vote. Many have suffered. In truth, it has been a struggle that has spanned millenia--and has involved millions of people fighting for their freedom and for the future--for US.
Now it's our turn. We can no longer take our democracy for granted. We must fight for it. History is calling upon us--to overcome fear, and sadness, and disempowerment, and disillusionment, and disconnection, in order to pass this democracy along to future generations, as it was passed, by others, to us.
We cannot and will not be defeated, no matter how long it takes, no matter how many obstacles we face, no matter how many setbacks we suffer.
