That is all it will take to create an idea. Granted this an idea that I have lifted but think about it for a moment. With stickers that say just "the war" we can be very dangerous. Now what I am advocating maybe considered vandalism in some area's of the country, but what if we just attached those stickers to every stop sign in town. Pretty easy to do. Unlikely to get caught. A huge message that hundreds would be exposed to. To take this idea off on another plane you could always make it about an issue that is near and dear to your heart. Not interested in stopping the war? How about stickers that just said, "spying on us". Besides juvenile vandalism is kind of fun. Plan your nightly walks on a new route every night. Explore new sections of town. Boldly go where no one has gone before. It will get the message across to some. It will annoy others. Just think you might be the cause of a freeper head implosion. That is my two cents. Please discuss.

2. I live in a college town (Athens GA) with a decent subversive element. |
|
Some folks have made similar alterations to stop signs in certain neighborhoods. I get a kick out of it. But my wife, who is at least as lefty as I am, does not; she considers it vandalism. I would fear that you might only be preaching to the choir, that for every person who agrees with you there will be another who thinks you're a punk vandal. (Still, my personal gut feeling is Go For It!)

4. If the stickers can be removed... |

I could rationalize the vandalism aspect.

8. Devil's advocate here: Are YOU going to remove them? |
|
Vandalism with a pencil is still vandalism. Personally, I like this idea, and I'm all in favor of civil disobedience, but I know from direct experience that some who share your goals will be turned off by your method.

10. Nope. It's just for my conscience. |
|
Call me hypocrite, but while I am against most vandalism, surely the destructive type, I wouldn't mind seeing these stickers on stop signs. It's hard to be perfectly consistent. I'd feel a bit better if I knew they could be removed without doing damage.

12. As Ruth Gordon says in "Harold and Maude" (paraphrasing): |
|
consistancy isn't really a human virtue. I'm on your side, but I think a lot of folks will take it the wrong way.

11. Just something to think about, |

If for any reason an accident accurs at the intersection of a "modified " stop sign, you could be held liable.

Consistency says that a person rolling through it would have a defense. (As if consistency could talk.) "Duh! I didn't know it was a stop sign."
Of course we're all being hypothetical here. :eyes: :eyes: :eyes:

It has been satisfying to see those Stop Bush stickers still there.

5. I am really not worried about the vandalism aspect of it. |
|
I am just trying to harness the power of the internet. Yes I may be "preaching to the choir", but if every individual in the choir tithes up ten stickers in their cities or neighborhoods it would spread the message. I believe it is one simple act that could counter some of the lies oozing out of * and his ilk. On posting this I came up with a refinement; STOP...the lies maybe at the bottom you can list a group like impeachpac.org or other movement where they can go for more info. One powerful simple act.

9. I'm not concerned about the idea that the stickerer would be |
|
committing a crime. Rather, I know a decent number of committed leftists who, for various reasons, are turned off by such acts. And no right wingers or war fetishists are going to be swayed. I like the idea -- I think it would be satisfying to see those stickers up there, but I really don't think it would accomplish anything concrete.
