The city is a ruin...a perfect symbol of what one party Repugnican rule is all about. But have no fear, conventioneers...the casino boats and hookers will be very open for business.

The local news interviewed Gavin Newsome about it the other day. He was mildly amused about the whole thing. He said he'd "take it under consideration."

Conventions always bring in a lot of money, but you'd also get a bunch of pasty, flabby white guys looking for hookers; flabby, pasty white women with Purple Heart bandaids, spittle-flecked evangelists, and nerdy-looking College Republican types wearing elephant hats with trunks that look like... well, you remember. On the other hand, there would be excellent opportunities for some kick-ass demonstrations and protests.

I'm sort of hoping they choose Minneapolis. We've been thinking about all the fun we could have.

hey if they want to come and spend their $$$ their money is as green as anyone's

i've never been much in favor of promoting new orleans during hurricane season but if people know the risks, then they do get good deals at that time, and it helps smooth out the unevenness of income for folks in the tourism industry

let em come on down, maybe they'll learn something

We have so many evacuees (more than NOLA)that will give him a warm welcome.:sarcasm: Like I said in an earlier threads, many things that FEMA said they would pay for, we haven't seen the green. The last time they were here, it took forever to get checks. Our wonderful DEM mayor will have to watch his wallet and count his fingers after a grip and grin. And frankly, our local hookers have more class. As far as tipping etc...DEMS are always better and more fun (and I have attended both party fundraisers). Hubby might play (he's a musician) but he would turn the check over to the local DEM party (he does that consistantly-says it is the only way he can live with himself).

Want to shove it down our throats? Do you know how outraged we were here in NY over their EXPLOITATION of their "9/11" Convention on us?

Yes, take your Convention to to the Deep South where you will be welcomed on bended knee. Apologies, to you DU'ers who live there, but at least THEY are in the majority there. Not so, in all the other places they want to hold their convention.

And a lackluster convention it was.
SDPD was ordered to round up all the homeless in the downtown area and dump them off in rural E County areas.
They didnt want the country or the GOP to know that there are homeless people in the US.
It was a disaster on a couple of levels.

We will be happy to recreate the conditions of last August so they will feel at home in the dome. For overflow, the republicans can stay in the nearby housing project - there are plenty of empty rooms there now. We'll be happy to sell them hazmat suits and masks at the going Halliburton price. :)

Or, they can have it in Bay St. Louis. They can stay for two weeks for free, if they bring building materials and rebuild the entire city.

125. What city has the most available hookers?
Remember, an important element of a Republican convention is the availability of prostitutes. A city must be chosen by the number of poor, uneducated, and abused women who are forced to this most tragic and abusive profession.

While most American cities have a lot of women reduced to prostitution, is there any place where the desperation is more great than New Orleans? Also, for the first time the Republicans would be providing direct aid to the city's underpriveleged...and the delegates would only be doing to the women what they did to all the Katrina victims before, but this time they might leave tips. (Yeah, right.)

http://www.epodunk.com/cgi-bin/politicalInfo.php?locInd...

Presidential politics: Rexburg is in Madison County, which supported George W. Bush in the last two presidential elections. According to unofficial vote totals for 2004, Bush received 10,693 votes and John Kerry received 826 votes.

In the November 2000 election, Madison County overwhelmingly supported Bush. Countywide, 7,941 people voted for Bush and 816 voted for Gore. Nader received 37 votes.

10,693 to 826 in '04 and 7,941 to 816 in '00.

Perhaps with Pat Robertson as the wise man bringing myrrh? (He would be the one to bring the embalming scent.)

I'm certain that if they could find a stable, they'd do it. They might even find a virgin (from their no-sex-ed classes) whom they could convince to bring about a "virgin birth."

139. How about Baghdad?
Dick could bring his gun. George could wear his uniform. The Republicans could bask in the glory reflected from their
successful freedom mission. Security would be cheaper, it' already in place. I've heard Halliburton cooks up a heck of a meal,
and for goodness sakes, the USO could perform. It's fantastic!

154. I figured they'ld want Las Vegas
But I suppose it would be to risky to gamble their own money instead of ours.

Imagine a tourism commerical for Las Vegas...a bunch of Republicans in a limo looking guilty as sin!
