First case of bird flu found in India, France... |
|
So much for offshoring... http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20060218/india_birdflu_060218/20060218?hub=CTVNewsAt11trouble is, will it become the hyped pandemic? Or is it no better than the Asian Flu scare of the 1980s?

1. first REPORTED case.... |
|
I am of the opinion that the only cases that get reported are the fatal/serious ones. How many got 'avian flu' and recovered because they never knew it was the "dreaded" version?
The fatality ratios are skewed, imho.

2. not unless you have a chicken in your living room..... |
|
watching chinese tv this week it seems they are trying to get people to stop raising free range chickens or worse chickens in the houses in many of the rural areas. this is where the transmission takes place...so i would think it`s safe to say at the present time and maybe never unless you "kiss" an infected bird i doubt you will get the "bird flu"

got it without any contact with chickens. Later they found out that the fertilizer for the plants on her porch she bought had chicken manure mixed in it. There have been several cases in Indonesia where no poultry connections have been found. It is just bubbling along and the further it spreads the more opportunity it has to mutate.

3. Like swine flu, this is all sick animals. |
|
HypnoToad, this is gonna be a laugher in a few years (funny, I accidentally hit t instead of y in "years").
This is all about the poultry trade. Or more appropriately, our poultry suppliers missing out on a huge global market.
The risk of human-to-human transmission is almost non-existant.
The poultry market is the only universal demand on consumable meat. I do not believe there ia any animal product consumed on more of the planet than poultry.
The chicken is the most efficiently grown meat (except rabbits {which no one will eat}) and we need to own those markets.
Look for the patented chicken- Like GM seed.
