U.S. Representative Bill Thomas, Republican, represents California’s 22nd Congressional District. Thomas is Chairman of the Committee on Ways and Means, easily among the top five most powerful positions in the House.

The Sacramento Bee wrote an award winning series on Thomas’ affair with Deborah Steelman, a health care lobbyist who steered huge campaign gifts to Thomas' war chest.
