I'm watching the broadcast Of the hearings from last summer on Abramoff and the Indian tribes. I was listening just now to McCain rattle off a list of front organizations and ask a witness about them and what a promise of "getting patched into the Senator's office" meant. I was just thinking about how many times on DU we have some RW outrageous group that gets pointed out on the board and we are called to battle. Part of the success of this is that shadows like this can recede into the darkness and we, until now, have not had the opportunity to do battle with the actual machine. It is exposed now and if the Dems don't rise to the occasion to slay the machine, we will have lost the last real chance to turn this thing around. Shadow boxing can help beat it back a little, but then the regrouping and retooling ccurs and it advances again. It needs to be SLAIN.
