Wanting your review on some books
I'm thinking of buying these books, right now at a later date, and was wondering what you guys thought of these books.

1) The New War by John Kerry- I have heard good reviews of this book from fellow Kerrycrats who have read the book, but I was wondering if anyone else has read the book who isn't a Kerrycrat could give me your review. It talks about globalized crime and he predicts 9/11.

2) House of Bush, House of Saud- This is another one I've heard good reviews of. I have had it on my list for a good while now to buy but I was wanting reviews first.

3) The Bush book Kitty Keller (? on last name) wrote not long ago. I did see an interview of her on Chris Matthews' show I believe and she didn't do that good of a job with the interview. She seemed nervous and all that so I was wondering if anybody here has read her book and what you think.

4) Joe Wilson's and Richard Clarke's books (I do have the "Scoripon King" though)- I'm sure these are very good but if it's already information I already know I might not buy them.

Thanks in advanced for these reviews! I'll also take suggestions.

2. i'd want to ask you what you are looking for.
i've got House of Bush, House of Saud, and Richard Clarke's Against All Enemies. Depending on what your focus is, they are both very good. i also really like David Ray Griffin's The New Pearl Harbor as it has tons of data in it. if you go to www.amazon.com and do a search on these books, they have a lot of reviews by readers and publishers alike. you can get a feel for what side they're coming from by the slant of their reviews. you can also go inside some of the books at the amazon site and take a look at excerpts to see if it's something you really want.

13. Thanks
I forgot about Griffin's book. I'm just into reading anything new. Right now I'm reading Jimmy Carter's latest book and I do have "The Scorpion King" and a few others to read but I'm always into buying other books too.

4. Thumbs down...
On "Scorpion King." Badly written, not at all on the same level as Clarke's "Against All Enemies."

The Kitty Kelley book was fascinating, and it's a lot more scholarly than the media would have you believe.

6. you know, I was wondering if it was just me..........
are you guys talking about Scorpion's Gate?

I bought that book and I started reading it but it seemed kind of hard to follow. But then I've never really been attracted to war stories. So I thought it was just me, that I couldn't get into that book.

I'm about halfway through it but I'm not even sure if I'll finish it. It just doesn't seem to hold my interest.........

5. i've read
house of bush, house of saud, against all enemies, and the kitty kelly books. they are all intriguing and good reads but clark's book (in my opinion) was the most informative.

all three have jaw-dropping info but somehow house of bush really pissed me off.

7. Information in the books you mentioned has been plowed fully
You might consider two newer books that contain less mined information.

State of War, the secret history of Bush and the CIA

Devil’s Game, How the United States Helped Unleash Fundamentalist Islam

One other you might consider is Off Center.

8. Why buy?
Your local library probably has most of the titles. If they don't have have it, chances are they can get it from a sister library.

There's no way I could support my reading habit if I had to buy books. In the last five years, there's only been two or three titles that were unavailable through my library system.

9. I have read all of these....
The Family is the name of Kitty Kelley's book and it is great. The media would have you believe that it is just gossip and anecdotal but it isn't. I have read all her books and she researches everything to the nth degree.

House of Bush, House of Saud is fascinating because the families intersect so much.

Another great book is While America Slept which is a very detailed account of the events leading up to 9/11/01. Very balanced.

Terror Timeline - is excellent! Very detailed, minute by minute account of the events leading up to 9/11/01 and how we got there. Written by a DU member.
