Looks like it is time to blame the black guy and cheer the bush lover
This is the current "feud" of the American Olympics speed skaters Hedrick and Davis.

See earlier post for discussion:

The media, of course, is driving this one.

AOL poll shows that---Who is to blame? Davis, 51%, bush-bot crybaby Hedrick 24%, neither 24%

So, because Davis wanted to concentrate on his one best event, rather than to try and win more than anyone ever (like Hedrick) he is to blame. Hedrick was mad because Davis wouldn't bow to him and do his bidding to help him be king, like W.

1. I agree with you
Exactly why is one guys dream of winning 5 or more medals somehow more important than another's of winning one?

15. Because it is something NBC has decided to hype!
The one thing I do enjoy about the Olympics is when the athlete comes out of nowhere and swoops in to steal the glory from the one the media has hyped. Takes the professional spin out of it which is exactly what the olympics are supposed to be, armature

4. The Olympics bi-annual "controversy of the year"
Not interested.

Sounds to me like a bunch of bored sportswriters looking for something to write about.

5. Next time this black man must know his place
and let the Winter Olympics remains white as the driven snow. How dare he beat the man-spirited and win at all costs Hedrick, when in the words of the NBC reporter he should have been playing basketball or pushing drugs on the South Side of Chicago as his kind as expected to do.:sarcasm: :sarcasm: :sarcasm:

8. Davis did what he felt was right for HIM. Screw Hedrick. He, like a lot
of "our" atheletes this Olympics*, is an arrogant fuckwad who should enlist in the mil if he so loves the "team " concept.

*Bode drunkie miller, for example.

10. I agree and will take you one step further.
I'm sick and tired of NBC's constantly blathering on about our players having a dream, as though the players from other countries don't.

I don't like the jingoistic commentary any more than I liked the years of American crowds shouting "U.S.A." (even when serving as hosts of the Olympics), something which had its roots in our spectacular and surprising 1980 victory over the U.S.S.R in hockey, where we were the clear underdogs, but mindlessly continued into events where we were, if anything, the clear favorites.

I hope the American people are growing up.

I have no hope for our fascist, corporate media.

14. I doubt the American people are "growing up" when, if the AOL poll is
Edited on Mon Feb-20-06 09:19 AM by MoJoWorkin
any indication, they are still being led around by the nose----51 % believe it was Shani's fault--- they are still willing to let the MSM tells them what to think, without trying to find out the real story.

I, too, have been known to cheer for another county's athletes at the games. Oh, the horror, ha!

11. My understanding is that the US Olympic Team pulled financial.....
support from Davis because of an argument over sponsors. That is the reason that he had to train in Canada.
If that's the case then I can understand why he would say screw them when they wanted him to help with a team event. I don't think it had anything to do with selfishness, the guy is pissed because they forced him to train on his own.
Just my take on things.

16. Isn't the Bush-lover advocating socialism?
I mean, isn't it the Pukes that taught us to look out for ourselves? Wouldn't they be proud of a black man pulling himself up by the bootstraps?

Fuck Hendrick - he just wanted the record gold medals, and is pissybaby about it. I hope Davis stomps him in the 1,500.

17. Questions: Aren't these teams usally decided before the games
begin? Did they just need someone on the team pursuit and invited Davis and he turned them down? Was Davis scheduled to skate in the team pursuit and then decided not to?

I haven't seen anything in these articles that tells about the timing of the invitation and rejection.
