God forgive me, I know comments of a personal nature are out of bounds. But when I saw her yesterday I thought My God, she looks like a corpse. I've seen better makeup on dead folk in the funeral home. Has she been in the coffin with Cheney? It was the same old shite coming out of her mouth, but I would shit if I met that in a dark alley.

1. Someone here claimed she is an alcoholic which would explain the look
I've seen it before in my own family. It's a tragedy for the kids.

2. I agree - but it's a fact. She's a fright.
Overly made up, a huge and bizarre flower thing. Arianna Huffington wrote about it yesterday - said she looked like Malificent from Sleeping Beauty.

8. I was thinking the same thing...
What was up with the flower thing? Did she think she was looking like Sarah Jessica Parker from a few years ago on Sex in the City? Perhaps it was a diversion from her face.....I wanted to puke but managed to hold it in because of the flower, I was trying hard not to laugh at the same time.

and that flower thing was hideous. Now I can go back to watching Tim Burton's _Corpse Bride_ that I rented on DVD yesterday.

19. Sort of
It was an odd choice. Maybe she was trying to look "sweet"? The thing that really freaked me out, though, were her fingernails. Scarlet red, long, she waved them around like weapons. Her harsh nails & make-up totally didn't go with the "sweet" pink flower. Maureen Dowd sort of picked up on this on the show when she commented about Cheney's "sweet pink tie" that he wore to humanize himself. Matalin has a sweet pink flower. But neither can cover up who they really are.

10. Re: "Corpse Bride" - I rented it yesterday, too...
Watched about 25 minutes and stopped. I've never been so disappointed. I'm usually a huge Tim Burton fan, but this thing was just boring and pointless.

6. I just can't watch her anymore.
She has no credibility with me at all, and is just a HO for the Republican Party. A PR concubine, as it were. She is certainly a queer looking thing, though. Plastic surgery gone wrong? :yoiks:

26. BOOZER. Bigtime. Probably...
but this look is also common to people who have to lie for a living. Just look around the Republican pantheon. True, most of these people have no conscience, but the ones who do are paying for what they're doing to our country. They're just not paying enough. Yet.

11. She was just awful
For once I was glad Russert didn't ask questions, because Matalin was hurting the Bush Ad. enough as it was. She was incredibly defensive, reactive, and insulting. I've never seen her so out of control before. IMO, she was lying, lying, lying; and she's not a good liar. Everything she did was intended to distract attention, from the huge flower, to the hands wildly waving, to her outrageous insults & reactions. It was all supposed to distract attention from the fact that she had no idea what went down at the Cheney ranch. She got "conflicting stories" on MONDAY? How is that? The stories aren't conflicting now, so they must've agreed on a version. She kept going on about the "presumption of an accident", when no one's saying anything different. And despite all the rhetoric, she quietly crumbled when Dowd mentioned Iraq. It was a desperate, kind of pathetic, performance.

14. She Could Be Drop Dead Gorgeous, The Lady Was Plain Ugly
The reviews of Sister Mary Elephant's TV performance yesterday says it all. I don't care what this wench looks like, it's the bile that comes out of her pie hole that makes her ugly. It's not just the words, it's the attitude...the total disdain for people, the mean-spirited response to criticism and absolute arrogance to say one bald-faced lie after another without the compunction of any guilt or responsibility.

Needless to say, my opinion of Carville is all but destroyed now. He surely had to know about Chenney's hunting fiasco on Saturday night or before the story "escaped" and just didn't tip anyone off. Wanna bet bloody Mary would have done that (and probably did) during the Clinton years. But then he also knows his lovely wife is up to her broach in all of the Chenney scandals and sits by idly as his wife helps in destroying civil rights and liberties. We know who wears the pants in that family.

17. She's as evil as Bush, and James Carville is a fake.
No way any lefty could be married to a right wing extremist that HELPS the fascists do the evil they're doing to this nation and its people.

For him spewing the lefty talk is just a very high paying job. He's about as left wing as I'm a member of the GOP.

20. You know what really struck me as I watched her?
Like most right-wing pundits, she's rude and just very unpleasant. She was insulting an sarcastic. She actually called people names- like- she snarkily called Maureen Dowd the 'diva of the smart set' or something like that. Accused David Gregory of going on a "jihad".

Dowd was apparently meant to be the counterbalance to Matalin on that show, and she had pointed things to say to be sure- but they directed at the Vice President (the topic of conversation), and she had a point. Matalin behaved like a spoiled child. I found myself wondering how many other people notice that right-wing pundits- and right-wing leaders, for that matter- seem to have no tact.

22. She is rude and sarcastic
Notice how half her responses were accompanied by some amount of "chair dancing," moving her body and waving her arms in exaggerated expressions? She openly mocked anyone who dared have an opinion different than hers. When she sat back in her chair with her arms back and her chest out...I kept waiting for her to scratch her balls. She was obviously interested in provoking a fight, because it truly does serve to keep the discussion away from Cheney's really serious problems. Matlin is also in an unfortunate position of having to defend herself at the same time she defends the person she is being paid to defend. The tug-of-war going on within her would be enormous...if she had a conscience.

24. it would have been interesting...
...to hear a specialist in body language analyze her actions yesterday. I began to think she was trying to pick a cat fight with Maureen Dowd. Dowd just looked ever better by comparison as the hour wore on.

25. I think she does have a conscience
That's why her body language was so off. She doesn't believe what she's saying, doesn't believe Cheney & was desperate to show that she did. So she resorted to name-calling, belligerance, anything to keep the focus off what really happened. But watch her reactions when Dowd was talking - she wouldn't make eye contact, hunches down in a defensive position & looks almost afraid. Big contrast to the bluster she tried when she was talking. The true Bush bots can lie with ease, never break a sweat, and make YOU look like the unreasonable one. Matalin tried that strategy, but failed utterly.
