Certainly, one might be suspicious of a UAE company running the ports (currently, a British company runs them). At the same time, it seems that some of the pushback on that issue is just out-and-out bigotry rearing its ugly head. Yes, this is a winner issue for Democrats, but it seems like at least part of its general appeal is racism, pure and simple. I want the Democrats to retake Congres and investigate Bush as much as anybody, but damned if I don't feel a little ambivalent about anti-Muslim racism being one of the motors through which that happens...
