I think that there should be commercials in every state proposing these Amendments featuring the Klan voicing their support. Let the people know that if they vote for this crap, they are voting alongside the Klan, and that any Party that supports these laws is banding together with the Klan. It's time to stop sugarcoating the issue and to tell it like it is.

"Them" being the anti-gay amendments, et al, I should state.

If anything proves how profoundly unAmerican this crap is, that should.

Our very essential traditions of openness and tolerance are being tramped under by bigots and the ignorant.

3. They are a side-show

Just like the intelligent design battles and the "War on Christmas." There will never be a marriage amendment in any significant "blue state" where the gay rights movement has the most power (New York, California, Washington, Illinois, or anywhere in New England). Thus, they will go the way of segregation laws and religious "blue laws."

the marriage amendments are today's McCarthyite "anti-communist" laws, baiting anyone who deviates from the norm, and weeding out opposition.

In thirty years, they will be an albatross around the Republican Party's neck, just like Vietnam and Jim Crow are largely hung around the Democrats.
