Chillingly timely observations on good leadership (from Marcus Aurelius) |
|
This Roman emperor, for all his hystrionic melancholy, had some very wise and pithy truisms in his "Meditations." And maybe a crystal ball. Speaking of what Marcus Aurelius admired about and learned from Antoninus Pius, his adopted father and predecessor on Rome's throne: "that he respected tradition without needing to constantly congratulate himself for safegaurding our traditional values." Further, Anoninus Pius taught him not to be arrogant, to question the need for a staff of sycophants, and "that you can behave almost like an ordinary person without seeming slovenly or careless when carrying out official obligations." I guess ShrubBot is not his kind of leader...he practically calls the chimp on the carpet from the pages of his "Meditations."

2. I think Commodus had far more tact and decency |

Commodus was a real piece of work. But Shrub...that man is a complete and total sociopath. Commodus lasted 12 years before he was removed from power. Would Shrub? I cannot imagine so, unless there was heap big bloodshed in America.
