The Worm Has Turned....impressions while enduring Hardball |
|
The media, I suppose, loves to sniff the political air and sell their product (= ratings!). I rarely watch Hardball - I rarely watch TV, and Chris Matthews is the male version of Rita Cosby in terms of fingernailsonthechalkboard factor. However, this has been a shocking episode - in every section of this show, the various talking heads are tripping over themselves to trash the misadministration.
Which brings me to another phenomenon - the frustration of feeling that you are week, months, years ahead of things. I am hearing NOTHING that the vast majority of us did not realize or know week or months or years ago. Are we that smart and perceptive? Or is it that we stand for the truth, are not concerned with ratings - so we see things as they are. The media is blinded by selling the product - if they perceive a particular horse is leading, that's what they promote.
It seems like the "magic", yet regrettable, combination of Katrina plus the Quail Hunt = the final unravelling. Odd that thousands of deaths of American troops did not have the same effect - then again, most of our public considers the war as a distant video game, I suppose - particulary with the attitude of the misadministration to not show or discuss the tragedies.
NOTE that I am not under any false pretense that we are heading in the right direction - there are all of those sheeple that blindly follow, or think that * is a swell guy, or are shaking in their right wing, fundamental boots with fear - but, and this is just a faint light in the distance, we do seem to have a different atmosphere starting to emerge - the fog of "Bush-shit" could be turning into people seeing it for what it is - a gigantic Fart that this misadministration laid that is choking the world.

I agree with you -- it sucks that the deaths of so many of our military members have had to die, and that didn't seem to piss the talking heads off. But if they ARE starting to come out of their comas, so I guess that's something.

spin willingly for the chimp not because of ratings (their ratings are actually in the toilet), but because their corporate bosses want them to. Why? Their corporate bosses benefit from chimp's tax policies and economic policies. Thanks for watching tweet so we don't have to. I'd love to hear more about what was on the show if you have time.:)

33. Beautifully written essay |
|
It occurred to me while reading it that a whole section of the population won't understand one flippin word because you reference something other than the bible
And that is how those at the top want it: keep the vast majority of the population down with 3rd rate educational standards, create a false controversary or focus on "intelligent design" which will in turn accelerate poor critical thinking skills.

8. Earlier today I had a thought about why we seem to be so |
|
immune to the war casualties. The Wilmington Star News is running a series on the Spanish Flu and how it affected this area when it hit. They are using the diary of a young couple that married and started life here. One of the things that struck me was the individual sacrifice EVERYONE made during WWI. Buying war bonds, saving certain scrap metals, and ultimately the draft. I think that is what is missing today. No one is sacrificing except the families of those who die. The daily news could just as well be a fictional movie, since it does not impact us directly. It is sad.

Tweety smells blood. Tweety can only smell a sure bet. Toasting a guy who is already dead is bs. But when Tweety worked for one of our San Francisco papers years ago we knew then he was worthless. He won't get our viewership back just for toasting Dead eye after he is already on the way out.

because any recent MSM "suggestive criticism" of Bushco is just jerking us viewers around.. . stringing us along with pseudo counterpoint to the neocon agenda.

actually, feels more like we're on a high-speed runaway train and I'm bracing myself for the crash over Iran any day now. :nuke:

I kind of came away with what you felt from watching him...But, the reason I boycotted him because he's LIED to US...and he TRASHES the Left when he isn't "playing games" with our minds.
but...I see what you say. And, thanks for the report. I don't trust him enough to agree..but I would hope at some point to SAVE AMERICA that these Media Folks start to wake up. It won't be them, individually...it will be their "Corporate Masters." And, that's where I hope the "hope" will come...

One step forward . A half step back.
Theyve overplayed their hand and actually believed the country was on their side, they became arrogant . The country was sold something way different then what the gop delivered. Big mistake. The country is realizing that a rethug rule brings them down while it picks up the ultra wealthy. Its hard to believe that they were gullible enough to believe that garbage.

Yes, we have known all along what crooks, liars and sociopaths this crew is. And we have said so much all along.
Now it seems some of their supporters are begining to discover what we've known all along. But in order for a Bush supporter to make the switch, they've got to overcome a few psychological hurdles we never had. They have to admit they were wrong. They have to admit they were played. They have to come to terms with their defending these clowns for so long. Is it any wonder it's taking so long?

Like attracts like. The supporters also have to admit how much they think like Bushbots. It's hard for people to undergo a radical personality change....a shaking down to the roots. The fact is, many of the characteristics of the Bushbots--ruthlessness, selfishness, domination complex, arrogance, hypocrisy, greed--are the sheeple supporter's own characteristics. There is corruption at every level of our society, undermining every activity you can name.
The B**h supporters who have an epiphany and repent, I've got time for. The ones who don't are the truly evil, narcissist sociopath variety. They cannot change their pathology without extensive work. They will just find other leaders when the Bushbots go down.

|
It's a fact of psycho-history. Getting tthe troops killed makes for a more powerful leader. Don't think so? Cite an example to the contrary.
BTW, I don't condone it; I'm just pointing out this fact. The Bushites knew this. They couldn't wait to make the ultimate "sacrafice."

And I couldn't find a reference, but the leader is seen as making the sacrifice. It adds gravitas to their term of office. I heard this in a lecture a long time ago and it made some sense in a sick kind of way. I surely don't recommend it. It's not my theory. I wouldn't even charge that it's a conscious act.

26. Interesting case. An exception, I guess. |
|
As I said above, it's not my theory. Carter's gambit was such an unfortunate failure. I guess his predicament and his image of futility overwhelmed whatever sympathy he could draw. He was seen as desperate. Remember Carter's troops did not die in combat. They died in an air crash in a sand storm.
I'm sure there are other exceptions.

Were stuck with him for three more years! a little late to find a backbone! whats the point of it now? but i did learn one thing about all this. If you want to get re-elected just start a war 8 months before your re-election then you can say things like "dont switch horses in mid stream" or "firing the commander in chief NOW would be a blow to the soldiers morale" and even if you totally screw up most people will still vote for you out of fear.

the "American people" (bandwagon) were behind the Iraq War, the media promoted it. I will never forget that promotion. The extent of it was beyond all resources of logic and reasoning.
Now that the wind has changed a bit, things are different. There is money to be made going a different way.

32. This thread explores some of the reasons - the Bushies have exposed |
|
the fact that they are NOT the archetypal heroes they pretend to be, and this has weakened them. All their populaarity has been based on a massive psyops campaign on the US public anyway. Read through the replies too - some good links there: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x464667thread title (2-19-06 GD): Jane Hamsher Explains the WIDER IMPORTANCE of the Cheney Shooting Story Comment/excerpt: Very insightful analysis by Jane Hamsher of firedoglake. As Jane sees it, Fuddgate has weakened Cheney, and this has in turn lessened his clout in strong-arming Congressional members into toeing his line., at least for now. One major issue impacted by this, Jane believes, is the status of NSA investigation.
