I'm beginning to think BushCo KNOWS it's toast...
.. and is doing all the damage they can do ON PURPOSE so as to totally hamstring the Democrats beyond '08.

They KNOW that the House/Senate will fall in '06
They KNOW that a Dem will take the White House '08
They KNOW Shrub will most likely get his butt impeached at worst and be totally neutered by the '06 elections at best.

They're trying to destroy the economy, the environments, the social programs KNOWING that it will take longer than '06-'12 to repair it.. KNOWING that then, in '10 they can start with..

LOOK AT THE MESS THE DEMOCRATS HAVE MADE... WE ARE THE ONLY ONES THAT CAN FIX IT.

"Scorched Earth".. that's what they are trying.

2. No, they don't.
People may not like * but it won't stop them from voting "R" again anyway. They will always think the "D"s are worse.

4. People voting? What an odd notion.
Murka is a technologically advanced nation. We turned that voting business over to machines several years ago now.

5. They smell the blood. You can cheat in elections and Democrats whimper.
Why hide it when you have to weigh your words?

8. Strategically, shouldn't this tell the Dems something? -
Thanks to Patchuli for this quote:

Reid said, "An example of how people really appreciate your standing up for what you believe is Russ Feingold, the only person to vote against the Patriot Act - the only person. The Republicans in 2004 spent tons of money going after him on that one issue, and it didn't matter because people believed that Russ Feingold did it because he thought it was the right thing to do." Indeed, last year, when John Kerry carried Wisconsin by a bare 12,000 votes, Feingold sailed to reelection by more than 330,000 votes. "I so admire Russ Feingold," Reid added.

http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/021906E.shtml

So, here's a guy who completely bucks the conventional political wisdom (i.e., it's suicide to vote against this), and he comes out not only being right, but being reelected by a huge margin.

Shouldn't Dems be thinking, "Hmm, maybe we should stop with the political maneuvering and just vote our conscience."

Who am I kidding?

9. Only folks
with their heads tucked securely up their own arses cannot 'smell the coffee.' It's time to fight to the death, if necessary for what is right.

10. First thing, we need to have a truth commission.
The war on truth has been non-stop for over a decade. The environment, 9/11, where the money's gone, you name it. We can't move forward until we all agree what the reality is.

11. Wish I could believe that, but

the Dems have shown every indication that they intend to lose in 2006. In fact, given the events of the last month (and I no evince anything's going to change) the Dems will be fortunate to pick up a few seats here and there.

The reason Bush is doing all these insane and egregious things in because there's no opposition party. And the more he gets away with, the more the Dems look weak and ineffectual- which of course- as a party, they are.

Most people (even members of the party's own base) see that and don't trust them to lead.

Absent what amounts to devine intervention, the writing is on the wakk- the Dems have already lost their 7th congressional election in a row. Just like they've lost (or set out to lose) every other challenge that the far right right has thrown their way. Often without even the pretense of a fight.

13. I disagree completely . . . it's just the opposite . . .
they KNOW that there's no way they will lose control of either the Congress or the presidency -- because they own the voting and, more importantly, the vote-counting mechanisms . . .

with control of the executive, the legislature, the judiciary, the military, the media, the corporations, AND the elections, they KNOW they aren't going anywhere . . .

it's going to be up to us -- "we, the people" -- to prove them wrong . . .
