When I was growing up, I knew a school janittor who was sure Franklin Roosevelt was a Jew and a secret agent for the Communists, that he had had syphillis, not polio, and that he had faked his death and was still running the country from a bunker beneath the White House...

Back then he was considered a loony; today, that mindset IS the Republican party.
