Will Someone Explain Why we would even consider |
|
having an Arab company run 6 of our ports? Is there any logic to this at all? Or is it all about money?
I find this topic to be very disturbing. I have no faith in this adm. and thought I wouldn't be surprised at anything - but this deal is way beyond the pale.

It's probably the best port terminal company in the world - running ports in the UAE, SA, China, S. Korea, etc.
Virtually all vessels loading and discharging cargo in the US are foreign owned anyway.

I'm trying not to just "react" to this story.
But i would have thought that the adm. would have guessed that the word "Arab" in the same sentence with our ports might cause just a little controversy?
I know absolutely nothing about the way our port system works - so this is kind of interesting for me.

7. Are you of the same cultists belief that we are "at war" with all Arabs? |
|
I know a few Arabs and they are wonderful people.. What's your gripe, or are you just prejudiced?

I live in the Midwest and we have every culture on earth here. And we all get along pretty well.
But I do think you have to consider that a lot of Arabs simply hate our guts and that should be considered.

16. Bush has been selling "fear the Arabs" because they hate us for our |
|
freedoms" since 9/11. He also is ramping up "Fear the Persians" because they want to nuke us. So, to turn our ports over to a "management company" from the Middle East kind of makes him look like a fool, wouldn't you say? Either that or "tone deaf" politically.

8. It's to manipulate our outrage so that Halliburton gets the job |
|
although I wonder why they bothered.
It may also be an attempted quid pro quo for the use of UAE facilities to launch the attack against Iraq.
Who knows? It's a stupid idea from a bunch of stupid and greedy men.

11. That Halliburton idea may be right on the mark. |
|
Its the only thing I've heard that makes any sense.
I wish we knew just exactly what Cheney is really getting from them. You know it has to be big - whatever it is.

They haven't hesitated to give Halliburton all the contracts it desires. The latest, $300,000,000 to build detention camps.

What an idea. Whole new perspective. Whether it's UAE or Helliburton, it sucks.

9. I've wondered about that since... |
|
the administration blocked the China/Unocal purchase for "security reasons" yet they'll allow the purchase of port operations of some of the world's busiest ports to a foreign company?
I don't get it.

I knew we would get there eventually. Just takes some great brainstorming.
Maybe there is a huge huka pipe sitting under the table at the white house meeting room. And everyone just takes a hit once in a while.
Actually, I would have more faith in things if they did that.

fund his war. Who owns us? Are they calling in debt perhaps? The Chinese own our manufacturing. Perhaps he's sold off our national security and energy sectors to the Arabs.
