DUH! I just realized! The Port thing is just a holiday diversion from |
|
the real issues.
Great timing, don't you think? All the congress critters are back in their home districts for the week, and do you remember all the issues that need to be discussed with them? If we don't do something, this will be the only issue they will hear about, and the rest will get lost in the fog.
So. Call their local offices. Go To Their Office! Tell them to please not forget about the real issues when they go back to DC.

You mean maybe we won't notice a sneak attack on Iran if we're all hot and bothered about port security?

They miscalculated big-time, or else think they can just bullrush ahead. Their base is up in arms.

4. That's my reaction to many of these "diversion" threads. |
|
I doubt anyone is planning diversions to an even more pointed screwup/scandal.

6. Well... it was the thread saying that maybe it was a false flag... |
|
that got me thinking. Yes, it ticked off the fundies too, because if it only ticked us off, where would the story be? Isn't it more effective to make sure that EVERYBODY is talking about this? Hey, it's a theory I'm still working on.
The point of my post, however lamely stated, is that we need to make sure that while this whole bru-haa is being shouted from both sides (manufactured or not) that the other more important issues don't fall into the hole.

8. You Didn't Actually Say Bush Intended it as a Diversion |

I mean, these deals take a long time to complete.
It is good to keep our eyes on the ball -- on the Fitzgeral investigation, Abrahamoff scandal, and NSA wiretapping.
But one reason I'm glad the port deal has been getting so much press is that it makes even true believers see the disconnect between Bush's rhetoric and his actions. He's really making his own base into fools. Eventually this kind of thing can cause a groudswell.
