WTF:Sen Hatch:Nobody With Brains Denies Hussein Was Supporting al'Qaeda
Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT): ‘Nobody With Brains’ Denies That Hussein ‘Was Supporting al-Qaeda’

What Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT) said about Saddam Hussein’s relationship with al-Qaeda on Saturday:

"Nobody denies that was supporting al-Qaeda…Well, I shouldn’t say nobody. Nobody with brains."

What the bi-partisan 9-11 commission said about Saddam Hussein’s relationship with al-Qaeda:

"The Sept. 11 commission reported yesterday that it has found no “collaborative relationship” between Iraq and al Qaeda, challenging one of the Bush administration’s main justifications for the war in Iraq."

Hatch made his remarks at an invitation-only luncheon. They’ve only been reported in a small Utah paper, The St. George Daily Spectrum.

He praised Chertoff the other day during the hearings. Hatch is a total supporter of Bush being a demigod. Hatch wipes his nose with the pResident's asshole.

5. Hussein was secular and greedy -
I don't believe he had anything to gain by joining in a "bigger cause". His ego was his own biggest cause.

7. OBL offered to take out Saddam before Poppy went to Iraq but Saudi A. said
no, the Americans will do it, leading to American bases on Saudi soil and OBL's utter hatred of and disgust with both Saudi royals and USA.

But Sen. "Without Brains" Hatch doesn't know history, obviously.

13. Yep, we should have stayed the F out and acted only as covert
support against Iraq at that time.

11. Has he forgotten that Osama and Saddam were basically
at war during the Iraqi Kuwait invasion? It was then that we were essentially allies of OBL.

And Mr. Hatch, if the goal is to go after Al Qaida, may I suggest pursuing THEIR leader instead of his supposed support system? I'd ask Mr. Hatch to list all the other no-brainers we have to pursue as well since apparently we are all in the dark.

12. idiot...
:eyes:

Hussein didn't support al-Qaeda, and al-Qaeda didn't support Hussein's regime.

To say anything else is...either damn stupid or deliberate lies (and in this case, I'm guessing deliberate lies to "catapult the propaganda")

16. This is getting all dredged up again because of the Saddam tapes, imho.
Edited on Tue Feb-21-06 12:00 PM by Wordie
There was that Intelligence Summit conference last Saturday, and some there have been saying that the tapes show that Saddam had wmd just prior to the invasion. FAUX news has really run with that over the last week. But even Newsweek has discredited that argument: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=103&topic_id=190522

So now Hatch is apparently also bringing the discredited "Saddam had ties to al Qaida" argument back too. It's all of a piece. Maybe they're just worried because their boy's polling numbers are sinking down a black hole, so the cry becomes as usual, "terra terra terra!"

BTW, the conference had on it's list of speakers two by now all-too-familiar names, Michael Ledeen and Richard Perle (notorious neocons). I bet the "brainy" Senator Hatch just let himself get riled up by the neocons.
