First marriage, now adoption...
What next?

Right to a job?

Right to a home?

Right to health care?

Right to be a citizen?

Right to be alive?

1. sounds like how they want it to go
Maybe they'd settle with branding folks with a big "G" on their foreheads & then shipping them off to Europe or Canada.

3. They are dehumanizing the gay community.....
That way it will be easy when they decide to make everyone wear the pink star and then shuttle them off to the deprogramming camps!!

And then they will go after those who call themselves, Democrats and Liberals......

And then they will go after all of the single mothers who live in sin by not having a father around for their children....

And then they go after those who do not practice their form of religion......

And then they will go after all non-whites.....

And then they will go after the individuals that are of mixed races.....

So my question is....will there be a civil war in this country? Will the United States as we know it split into two countries?

6 years ago I couldn't imagine the daily travesties the * cabal has gotten away with....

It's the Twilight zone 2006....

5. What drives people to such hatred?
Why are they trying to deny children the love and security of being adopted by couples who want them? This is a civil rights issue as far as I'm concerned. Gays and lesbians should have exactly the same rights as anybody else, because they ARE like anybody else in every way that matters.

When a heterosexual couple seek to adopt a child, are they quizzed about which sex acts they perform in the privacy of their home? Do they have to defend whether or not they engage in oral or anal sex? If what goes on in their bedrooms is not part of the adoption process, then neither should it be for gay couples. As long as the children are not witness to whatever the couples do, the whole issue is meaningless.

If we are going to deny full civil rights to a segment of the population because of their sexual preferences...and I believe that people are born either heterosexual, gay, or bi...then people who are denied full civil rights should be exempt from paying full amounts of taxes. What happened to "All men are created equal"?

How sad, to have to be fighting this fight in 21st Century America. How sad, that we can't get beyond such things and instead use our time and energy to see that each and every child has a loving home. Besides, all of the truly horrible cases of child abuse I've seen reported were committed by either the mother, her husband, or her boyfriend. None of the abusers were gay. That should speak volumes about how foolish it is to prevent gays from participating in the same rights enjoyed by everybody else.

Why do conservatives hate children?

8. In Florida
you can't adopt children if you are bipolar or very overweight.

Kind of OT...but maybe not.

10. Not really
In the sense that overweight people are another segment of our population who seem to be fair game for narrow minded people's prejudices. What's next, removing an overweight mom's birth children because she's considered fat? As far as bipolar, I would imagine that if the person is getting treatment, there is probably nothing to stop that person from being a good parent.

I worked, over the years, with several people who had been diagnosed as bipolar, but they were holding down responsible jobs, being good parents, and otherwise participating in society as productive people. I have a cousin who is extremely obese, but she is one of my very favorite people in the world, and I have hurt for her when I've seen some of the not very well concealed looks she's gotten from people. She is one of the best moms I've ever seen, and has worked herself half to death to provide college educations for her three daughters.

Being gay, being overweight, or having an imbalance of brain chemistry, which can lead to bipolar disorders, but is easily treatable, should be no barrier to adoption, but that's just my opinion. Sad that we can't judge people for the good qualities they possess, instead of made-up things like sexual orientation, weight, and other things.

6. Health care benefits already scuttled
My partner and I recently lost the health care benefits willingly provided by her employer since Virginia passed gay-hating laws that forbid shared coverage of domestic partners even when that coverage is offered by any private company/business operating within the state.

Thank you, America. I hope this makes you feel so much safer.

11. I don't feel safer
it just gives me something else to feel ashamed about for my country. A law like that has no purpose other than mean spirited spite, and hatred.

9. This is so sad
and yeah, if the people in charge of pushing these bigoted laws had their way, every gay and lesbian American's right to be alive would be in question.

It's time to stand up to the dominionists.
