1. What bull - not one quote from an actuary! Anti-aging therapy sounds

good - I'll take two.

Get back to me when there are real results.

A standard disease cure model gets the the mortality increased all right - but see the Social Security Actuaries report for a real projection.

And yes - the SS "full retirement benefit" age will be extended to 70 by 2050, which means SS retirement at 62 will be less because it will be 8 years early - rather than the current 4 years early.

Yes - currently 62 is 4 years early because of the Reagan 1983 change that increase the "full benefit retirement age" to 67 over time (we are are at 66 for age 62 retiring this year).

2. I personally think it has "peaked". People who live till 100 today
grew up eating pretty organic food. They often started out life in rural areas or smaller cities.

Those things don't exist anymore.

Unless they find a cure for cancer - I don't see how it would be possible.

3. Not for long.. The parents of boomers will be the last long-lived
Edited on Tue Feb-21-06 03:43 PM by SoCalDem
generation.. THEY got the full benefit of health care advances, they had pensions, they got medicare when it was solvent, and they have their 60 yr old children to care for them..

By the time my mother was 32, both her parents had passed away.. There are people in their 70's today, taking care of their parents..

My generation will be worn to the nub, broke, sick from lack of affordable health care, taking care of 90 yr old granny AND a couple of grandkids..while trying to hold down a full time job...Doesn't bode well for us:scared:
