Attn DUers personal info posted here will be used against you |
|
Two threads have been posted in the last few days. One about the IRS seizing back accounts without warning on bogus reasons for several DUers and a person getting bizarrly bumped out of a medical trial with needed medicine cut off.
It is starting. Please either do not post personal information or understand you may have serious problems if you do. They have the power, and the Supreme Court so be careful. Very sorry to say it may be better to do support group type messages somewhere else.
Be strong and be safe.

Not yet, anyway. I don't think the government gives a rats ass about what we post here right now. They may peek every now and then, but I don't believe for a second they consider members of DU to be worthy of effort to neutralize right now.
DU'ers, I wouldn't sweat this at all.

6. I wouldn't be so sure. |

Besides, I've noticed people really do put way too much information about themselves on the internets. Posting your alma mater, for example? Why? The potential harm in that must certainly outweigh the benefits.
Maybe you are right, but I'm not going to take any chances. It isn't worth the risk.

17. My name is Rich. I live in Westlake, Ohio. I work as an |
|
air traffic controller. I drive a 1996 Honda Accord and a 1983 Porsche 911. I have a sister who's a partner in a law firm, a cousin in the Secret Service and another cousin in the Army. I'm divorced (8 years ago) and my son (now 15 years old)lives with me. As a sideline, I photograph bands (and monkeys and stuff in Costa Rica). I'm 38 and I retire in 10 years 2 months and 7 days. Then, I'm moving to Costa Rica.
That, and much more, has already been posted here. If you're living off the grid, you're already not posting personal info on websites...and probably not contributing much. Yes, "they" might be watching us. Yes, the climate is becoming increasingly scary....
...however, as far as I'm concerned, there's no point in relating to people (which is what posting is) unless you're willing to give a little of yourself...if only to provide context. If we stop doing that, it's all pointless.
...and no, you're not getting my address, phone number, or social security number. :)

I enjoy long walks on the beach and skullfucking moranic republicans. I'm a Scorpio and have been known to sacrficially burn Ann Coulter books by the light of the full moon. Chicks under the sign of Aires make me hot, unless of course, they believe in outsourcing or in carrying around granite statues of the Ten Commandments or the Patriot Act. My favorite fiction work is by the 911 Commission, although I do occasionally like to dip into the Warren Report for old time sake. I don't cheat on my taxes because I know how expensive it is to blow up unarmed countries, but I do look at the Internets sometimes. I have naked pictures of monkeys and birds.

And I have quite an unusual name. But what's funny about this is that none of the matches are actually me, and yet in some bizarre coincidence, more than half of them live in my state! Anybody who's trying to find me via this page to do bad things to me will in all likelihood think that at least one of these people is actually me, and will be sent on quite a wild goose chase...

don't forget: the Democratic Party is not some kind of outlaw party. We are a legitimate group, for God's sake. It's not like we're doing anything illegal here on the DU.
A friend of mine looked worried. She said to me, "Quit posting on the DU. It's getting dangerous in this country". I thought it over and said, "Well it's the Democratic Party, for Pete's sake". There are Dem's in the White House. We get a voters pamphlet sent to us with DEMOCRATS listed in there. Since when is that illegal?
I'll tell you why this ruse will never work. There are MORE registered Dem's than Repubs. that's more than half this country. 288 million /2 = 144 million. I'd like to see them control that many people. Furthermore, I cannot believe the White House can monitor all the emails, blogs, web sites, mail, etc etc etc from this many people (288 million + a few million overseas). This government is inept; they can't do anything right -- look at Katrina, 9/11 on an on.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

46. I'm continually amazed at some of the stuff people post here |
|
Actually, not just here, but any of these type of boards. We give 'em a cozy sounding name like "online communities, but they're still just written logs. Remember in grade school, the threat you always got to keep you in line? "That's going to go on your permanent record!" Of course, that was just a crock back then, but now...whew! I wonder how many people here have had "visits" after posting bizarre rants calling for harm to some high government official? People be sayin' crazy shit here, and the personal stuff you mention is just the beginning.
The funny thing is, though, I remember when I first started posting to political message boards (that's okay, the fibbies already have this info by now! ;-) ) back around January of 2002 on a Yahoo! board which amazingly still exists. Do you realize how much the climate has changed already? At once, we live in more fear, but we're less afraid to speak out. For the time being, anyway. But back then, man, I was afraid to say ANYTHING online. Anything and everything posted was in the most vague terms, and I still try to do that, just because. If for no other reason, to make the bastards at least work for the information. I'm not going to just hand it over to them all neatly packaged in a message board post!

A couple of years ago, a friend expressed concern about my posting on DU. I told him there is no way I'll let fear of this maladministration affect what I say or do. Also added that if he didn't already realize this, he didn't know me very well at all. Incidentally, I no longer consider that person a friend.
