Here's a REAL republican, not a neo-con fake... |
|
This weekend I got into an argument with a friend about Medicare reform. The result?
Well, we're still arguing about Medicare, but he came to realize that the REAL Republicans, the ones that believe in lower taxes for all, states rights, fiscal responsibility, and a smaller federal government have nothing to do with George W. Bush or anyone in his administration.
He actually admitted to me after years of calling me Hippie-Rosenberg (referring to the fact that I have short hair and dress nicely just makes me a liberal spy...this is a joke of course) that he regrets voting for GW Bush. That GW has deceived the very people who believed in him. That the whole administration from the top down had "executed the biggest fleece job in US political history".
He came the conclusion that he could never be a democrat because I'm the only one that he's met that he actually likes. I haven't had the heart to tell him that his recently moved-in girlfriend and I worked on the Kerry campaign together. She and I have a plan to keep that secret...until 2008. I guess Hippie-Rosenberg fits me a little.

1. Once they all realize that the Neocons have highjacked their party |
|
is the moment this world becomes a better place.
Another good point might be that he really has no idea about what a liberal is. Sorry, I know he is joking, but I fricking hate the steriotype that he is perpetuating.

his girlfriend isn't being upfront about who she is. He must be a real asshole for her to have to keep it a secret.

5. No, she just really doesn't talk about politics... |
|
She's in advertising sales. She just naturally stays a chameleon and does her volunteering and donating without announcing it.

4. Yeah, but he'll just keep voting Repub. He'll convince himself that he |
|
was only fooled about the shrub, and the next guy, McCain, or Giuliani or even the Jebster, or Frist, will be "his kind of Republican".
How the hell could this woman move in and actually LIVE with a guy where she feels she must keep her politics secret? Doesn't sound very healthy.
I take it she won't be helping with any Dem campaigns in 06.

6. No, I don't think he's going to vote for a while... |
|
unless its a local issue.
As for his girlfriend, she'll be donating money in '06, not her time. She has become quite disillusioned with some of the local Congressmen and one of the two Dem Senators here in Washington (I won't tell you her name, but it rhymes with "aria antwell".
