"...and absolute power corrupts absolutely"
Once the Repubs got control of the House, Senate, and the White House, they assumed absolute control over our government. With the assistance of the Supreme Court, they were put in a situation where greed was prevalent and abundant. The sinister lobbyists were lingering around every corner. They wanted to write the legislation and some did. After a while, they swept over the Republican Party like a dark cloud over the prairie, just before the torrential downpour.

Now the Republicans hide away in their little conclaves, hoping for some miracle to save their reputations and careers. Their first impulse is to blame the other Party and tell people that everyone did it. But they lie. They shut out everyone else because they had "absolute" power. And they put Tom Delay, the "Hammer", in charge of their House.

Greed - the hemlock of power. That is their downfall. They will cling to whatever straws they can find. But they have been poisoned by their own greed. They will dream of what they might have done if they only had some principles. But they had none.
