Al Sharpton's Radio Show
I was just curious if anyone else has been listening to Rev. Al Sharpton's new syndicated radio show.

I enjoy it, and I find myself listening to Al Franken's show less now, and tuning into Rev. Sharpton's. (Al Sharpton's show comes on at 1:00 PM where I'm at, so their shows intersect).

So I just wanted to see what others who have been tuning into Sharpton's radio program thought.

Also, one question:

Either last week or week before last, a caller on Sharpton's show claimed that President Clinton had been against the MLK holiday. He didn't say where he got his info from.

I was pretty shocked to hear something like that. I just tried googling it to see if I could find anything, but nada.

Does anyone know if Clinton was against MLK's holiday?

2. Clinton opposing MLK Day? Bull....
That sounds like some uninformed jackass calling in and spouting.

3. There's been a lot of piling on Clinton on the Sharpton show
And this particular guy was an African-American (left-of-center) who says he doesn't understand the admiration for Clinton, b/c he opposed the King holiday.

That immediately caught my attention....But I haven't been able to find out anything about it.

4. No one corrected him?
I hate it when callers are allowed to give misinformation unchecked, because some people will believe it.

6. No. In fact, Sharpton seemed to agree with him
OK, on the Yahoo search engine, I just found this on National Review's website:

In April 1985, Governor Bill Clinton signed Act 985 into law, making the birthdates of Martin Luther King Jr. (the preeminent leader of the civil-rights movement) and Robert E. Lee (the general who led the Confederate army) state holidays on the same day. Of course, the word "segregation" never passed Clinton's considerable lips, but the (uncoded) message he was sending to certain of his white constituents could not have be clearer. His support for the Lee day seems as bad — if not worse — than a gaffe at an old man's birthday party and Lott's opposition to an MLK day.

8. He was against it before he was for it...
He voted against it the first time, then voted for it the second time...slimebag rat bastard.

He also thought Nelson Mandela was a terrorist.

He voted against the House resolution calling for the release of Nelson Mandela, because he said the prevailing view among many was that the African National Congress (ANC) was a terrorist organization!
