1. This should be the deal that brings him down. |
|
He's finally alienated his chief cronies in the Congress (Hastert and Frist). This is not politically wise.

6. Should be...emphasis on "should." |
|
Some folks have gone tinfoil hat over the Frist move.
REMEMBER...within hours of the 2004 election, Karl Rove was talking about the 2008 campaign and possible candidates. He expressed early interest in running Frist.
Frist steps up, challenges the deal in the name of national security, becomes a hero, runs for president in 2008.
I'm not saying that Rove is working this angle...I'm just saying he could.

4. There is no one issue that will bring Bush down |
|
There is the accumulated evidence that this Administration is incomepetent (at best) and indifferent to the wishes and desires of the American people. This deal with the ports and the idea that Bush and even Rumsfeld were out of the loop when the decision was made to sell the ports to the UAE company is yet another nail in the coffin of the image that Bush cares about anything but helping his rich friends make money.
I don't know if anyone else noticed, but Bush's poll ratings were down to 39% last week, before the Cheney shooting incident and this sale of the six ports to a country that doesn't recognize the legitamacy of the state of Israel. The Rethugs are starting to distance themselves from this toxic President. And the Rethugs, in their own special bungling way, have just handed the Dems an opening to attack them as being soft on security and on terrorism.
It's drip, drip, drip with these guys. Everything they have ever said they stood for is being revealed as a lie. drip. drip. drip.

He's got Limbaugh out there telling the sheep that UAE is a friggin paradise, for example. Plus he's done pretty much whatever the hell HE has wanted to since he came into office. Personally I think the guy is untouchable and I am hoping the country won't be so jacked up in 2008 that we can't reverse the damage.
I've focused my efforts for the time being at the local and state level. I don't think the Bush machine can be stopped, but at least we can elect people at the local and state level who care about our country, each other, and the future.

7. This will be the final straw |
|
That starts the collapse of the Bush empire. Americans are beginning to see their conuntry being pimped like a whore to the highest bidder. To me, that shows complete disrespect for America, its Constitution, and its people.

Bush has removed his last reason for existing, by selling out the country's ports to the very group he villainized for 5 years: Middle-Eastern Arabs!
With all the other scandals foaming across the landscape, the diehard Bushbots were hanging by their toenails to the mantra: He keeps us safe from the terrorists in the Middle East. Now they see they are utterly betrayed. Whether the deal constitutes a secruity risk or not (and we wouldn't know until somebody tried something) it smells like 5 day old fish.

but I think that this time he has lost virtually all his support. People are looking ahead now. And if he continues to try and strongarm things just because he's pres, he will have the GOP looking to take him down. He is making it impossible for them to stay in power.

11. In an odd way, this whole deal puts Bush on the side of sanity |
|
and tolerance and has Democrats siding with Frist and Hassert. What this deal really points out is that we are not at "war" with anyone. But that is the aspect that Democrats will not touch. If we were really in a World War Without End, we would never turn over port security to ANY foreign company - not British, not Japanese, not any allie or "friend". But since this has become couched in the "you can't give this authority to an Arab" kind of debate, it allows Bush to take the high road of racial tolerance and non-bigotry. He gets to shake his finger at people and say, "Come on, we aren't racists." And I am afraid it is going to work for him. No one will publicly admit that this move actually proves that the "War On Terror" is a sham, just an excuse to make Bush into a dictator - that's the real element, here, that is being missed...

20. Oh please..................... |
|
Everytime he opens his mouth he tells us we are at war and THEY want to kill us. He used terror alerts to "win" the election...even went so far as to shutting down NYC the day after the Democratic convention. Now he sells our ports and you think people are going to see him as the tolerant voice of reason????? Not even the right wing morans are that stupid. They'll see him for what he is....a stupid, lying corporate whore! They have been betrayed by someone that they have defended even against their own better judgement. They are suddenly noticing that he can't make it through a sentence without stumbling. Even if he reverses his decision...the veil has been lifted.

24. Intresting point.....We must not fall into BUSHIES Trap... |
|
We must not fall for the "I DO NOT WANT ARABS RUNNING OUR PORTS"! What we should be saying, IS " WE WANT THIS STATE COMPANY FULLY VETTED, AS WE WOULD ANY FOREIGN COUNTRY, BY THE CONGRESS AND A SPECIAL COMMITTEE!!! Bush is setting the Dems up for racial discrimination. THIS WHOLE THING SMELLS ROVIAN TO ME!!! We ARE NOT RACISTS. THEY ARE!!! LETS NOT LET THEM LEAD US IN A TRAP!!! AND POINT FINGERS...THIS IS INSANE! WE KNOW IT, BUT FOR ONCE WE NEED TO OUTSMART THEM. Yes , this Move proves the the "War on Terror" is a sham, and we CAN'T help make Bush a dictator....THATS THE AIM FOLKS...

14. Zomb-publican congress will awaken from "W"itchdoctor's spell |
|
I think this could be the final straw... W's polling numbers are lower than ever, and heading lower still, thanks to publicity generated by the UAE ports deal. It appears this will be the event that sends the zomb-publicans running from the plantation, seeking to save their own skins in the upcoming 2006 elections.

18. I have been daydreaming about the same thing. |
|
As we reflect back over his Presidency, all the lies, lies of implication, and down right dirty business he has always come out on top with the cronies hoisting him up. I hope the Repukes that are standing w/ the Dems on this one (mostly due to their 06 election hopes) do not back down.
Bushco calls Liberals the "politically correct" nut bags. By now you all must have heard the spin on this. He claims we cannot refuse to do business with a country or company due to their "Race, creed, color or National origin" (or whatever). NOW THAT IS POLITICALLY CORRECT SPINNING for ones own favor!
He does not speak of Snow's connection or (damn I forgot the name of) his other lackey whom was just placed in a Post that is also in bed with this company. Here in Florida, good ol' Jeb has not spoken yet. Geez Miami is in his State last time I looked.
We really cannot go down this path until 08, what the hell are we going to do? For the first time, this bastard has me unable to sleep, I feel a rage that cuts so deep I hurt inside. he single handedly has killed the American People, Security and Image.
